I warned you. I warned you. I warned you. I warned you.
I felt like I was under water. All I could hear were those three words played over and over again. I couldn't tear my eyes away from that little piece of paper. It was all my fault that Christina was dead but how did Vincent know? How did he find out so quickly? I made sure we weren't followed or if there were any cameras this made no sense. At least I thought it didn't. I noticed the people starting clear out but I could still hear their whispers and over the whispers I heard shouting.
"Move out of my way! I said Move!"
I was starting to get lightheaded, as I sat there still frozen in shock until I felt strong arms wrap around my waist and pull me away from Christina and against somebody's chest. I looked down and saw the familiar maze pattern covered forearms. My breathing quickened and I tried to wiggle from his grasp.
"Dammit Ara stop! I'm not going to hurt you."
Lies. Wasn't he lying?! I don't know anymore. What's wrong with me?! I looked into his eyes and saw them full of concern. He loosened his grip on me big mistake for him. I pushed away from him and out of his grip. Stumbling a bit and took off down the hallway I could hear his footsteps and him calling my name but they soon faded.
I ran all the way to the dorms and flung myself on the bed and let out all the tears I held in. I soon found myself drift to sleep.
////
I woke up not to the familiar metal clanging against metal but to Peter shaking me awake.
"Hey Ara, get up something's going on."
I looked at Peter confused. "What do you mean?" I sat up and whispered. "I don't know but Eric and Four rallied all the dauntless born together and into our dorm." "What time is it?" I asked. "Around Midnight," he replied. I groaned and rubbed my eyes and got out of bed and pulled on fresh clothes I didn't care if anybody saw anymore and clearly I wasn't in the mood.
I walked with Peter and we caught up with Kyra and Nina I didn't know where Will was but I didn't feel like asking.
////
We were on the train I could feel eyes burning into the back of my skull. I wanted so bad to turn around. When I did I saw Eric look away. I looked down instantly and wiped away a single tear that had escaped.
"Alright listen up everyone we are going to play a Dauntless tradition, Capture the flag." Four said as he placed two bags on the ground and opened them to reveal some guns. Molly scoffed and made a comment to Drew. "You call that a gun." In an instant Eric shot her in the leg and she fell to the floor earning a smirk from Eric. I guess she didn't think anybody would hear boy was she wrong.
"This is a neuro-stim dart it simulates the pain of a real gun shot. Alright two teams Four and I are captains I'll pick first." I watched his eyes skim over all of our faces his lingered on mine longer than others but he looked away and called out a name.
"Edward."
I was taking back. Don't get me wrong I was well aware of everything that happened earlier but I didn't understand why he wouldn't pick me.
It was Four's turn.
"Kyra."
And they continued calling out names this whole time I was hoping Eric would say my name. To hear him say my name. But it never came. I ended up on Four's team with Will, Kyra, Nina and some other dauntless born. Peter was on Eric's team with Molly and Drew.
Great I thought to myself.
Our team jumped off the train first because according to Eric we needed a head start. I rolled my eyes just thinking about that. Four rallied us up in a circle and pulled out a glowing orange flag but before he could speak Nina came skipping up to the group with a smile that went ear to ear.
