Chapter 12

I couldn't believe my eyes there was no way he was here Eric told me he would keep a look out. I backed away from him slowly; he didn't move a muscle he just sat there grinning at me like a madman. I tried to run out but two guards blocked my only exit. My eyes widened with fear and surprise, I turned around to face him again.

"What's the matter sister, aren't you glad to see me? I mean I came all this way just for you." He said standing up and making his way to me stopping right in front of me. "I mean it's incredible for me to believe my baby sister here in Dauntless. I'm surprised you made it as far as you did."

I felt a sudden surge of bravery and urge to stand up to him I could take him on now couldn't I? I mean I had already gained more muscle tone from training. "I'm not weak anymore, brother. I'm stronger." I stood my ground and balled my fists. He chuckled and looked me up and down.

"I can see that."

"So Vincent why are you really here? Missed beating me every day you've gotten bored with your life." The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them and I knew this was not wise. In nearly two strides he made his way back over to me and pulled his arm back and slapped me. I clutched my cheek tears pricking my eyes. I held my cheek and looked back up at him and glared.

"How dare you speak to me like that? You are below me." His nostrils flared and his face was red. I waited for more to come after that but nothing came. His expression softened as took my cheek in his hand and turned my head towards him. "Now dear sister can't I come and visit you? I mean it is visiting day you should be happy."

"oh yeah I'm ecstatic can't you tell?" I spat at him.

"You have quite a mouth on you now don't you? Well I would love to stay but you see I have things to do and don't you dare run off and tell anybody about our little meeting. I have eyes here and one peep out of you you'll regret it. Maybe one day one of your little so called friends will have hmm fallen over the chasm."

My eyes widened with fear he had people in here they could be anyone. What if one of them was Eric?! What if meeting with my brother was his plan no it couldn't be Eric cared about me.

"Well I must be going dear sister I have things to do." He pulled me into a bone crushing hug that made me yelp in pain and with that he smirked and let go. "Farewell Willow, I cannot wait to see you again." And with that he left along with his henchmen.

I stood frozen in place a little while longer and when I was sure he was gone I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror my cheek had already started to swell. It was going to leave a bruise great how was I supposed to cover this up. Eric is not stupid nor are my friends they were going to ask questions. I needed to come up with a solution to cover this up and make up a story.

I left the dorms instead of taking a nap like Eric said. Ugh I shivered even saying his name right now scared me he could be in league with my brother. I headed back towards the dining hall it was lunch time now and I'd rather not be alone. Just the thought of my brother having eyes all over Dauntless frightened me. I walked into the dining hall there were a couple dauntless members not many but some I decided to sit by myself. I was still shaken up from my encounter with Vincent. I picked at the food on my plate until I felt I heard feet running my way.

"Ara?! Where have you been? We've been looking everywhere for you!" Thank god it was only Nina. I don't think I could face Eric right now. I bit down on my lip and waited for her to take a seat across from me when she had I looked up and moving the hair out of my face. I watched her facial expression change in a blink of an eye.

"Oh my God Ara what happened?!" She yelled causing some people to turn around and stare at us.

"Hush don't be so loud Nina. I just ran into Molly and Drew they were making fun of me and I said something they didn't like so Drew hit me it's not a big deal I'm fine." She looked at me suspiciously.
