Tomorrow training would begin.
I woke up to metal clanging against the railing. "I want to see you all in the pit at 8. Get up and get breakfast!" I instantly recognized Four's voice. I slowly sat up and combed my fingers through my hair and stood up. I no longer cared if anybody was watching. I grabbed some clothes and pulled on my skin tight black leggings and a black v neck shirt and laced up my black converse and blue heart necklace my dad gave me when i was a little girl.
Did I forget to mention that I never discarded the necklace. We are supposed to but I didn't.I then walked into the bathroom and pulled my hair back into a slick ponytail. I didn't bother putting on makeup. So my nearly healed eye was showing. I quickly tucked my necklace into my shirt before I headed out of the dorms and walked to the dining hall hoping I would see Kyra, Nina, Tris and Christina already there. I walked in and some looked up and stared at me. I didn't want all this attention so I proceeded to walk in with my head down. That was a mistake.
I bumped into something hard and fell down on my butt. I bit my lip and looked up. Speak of the devil it was Eric. He looked down at me with his arms crossed and then he reached down and helped me up. "Watch where you're going initiate." I scoffed and brushed passed him only for him to grab my arm. I tried to pull away but his grip tightened. I bit my lip trying not to whimper from the pain as I looked into his steely blue eyes hoping he could tell he was hurting me. His eyes read anger and hurt and I knew he was staring at my face. "Eric can you please let me go...I'm hungry." Without a word he instantly let go and walked over to the leaders table and took a seat next to Max.
I continued walking till I saw Kyra, Nina, Tris and Christina. I smiled to myself it was far away from Eric. I didn't really want to be around him right now I don't need his pity. "Hey girl how did you sleep?" Kyra asked. I shrugged. "Ok I guess not really excited for today." I said grabbing a muffin and nibbling on it I wasn't really hungry. "Hey I'm sure you'll do great today. We were Erudite I think we will be slightly better than everyone else." She laughed. "I definitely want to learn how to fight you know." I looked up at Kyra "do you think my family would come to visiting day?" I gulped. Christina looked between us. "Why wouldn't they?" "I just want to be ready just in case you know comes." "Who comes?" I heard a voice say from behind me. Everybody froze at the sound of the voice. I knew who that voice belonged to. I felt Christina scoot over and I did as well scooting closer to her as Eric took a seat next to me. I gulped and looked down and whispered for only him to hear.
"You know who, Eric don't pretend you don't." I stated. I tried my hardest not to look into his eyes but it was so hard that I eventually caved and looked up he was staring back at me with a stern look. He stiffened and nodded. "I know who and if he does come and visit and tries anything you come get me. Got it." I nodded. He got back up and crossed his arms back to the dauntless leader look. "Ara we need to talk?" He said so everybody at my table could hear. I sighed and put my muffin down and got up following him out of the dining hall and towards the training room. When we got there we were the only ones in there. He turned around to look at me and his body instantly relaxed. "How are you feeling?" I looked around and then back at him and shrugged. "I'm scared out of my mind." "I'm not much of a fighter. But I definitely want to learn." He nodded. "I could help you train if you like." I looked up at him. "You would do that for me?" I asked him. "Of course I would." I smiled at him and for the first time it was actually a genuine smile not some fake one. "So what are we doing today?" He chuckled "you'll have to find out." I groaned and hit his arm playfully. "No fair." He crossed his arms and smiled slightly "it's perfectly fair you have to wait to find out like everybody else."
I nodded and eventually heard the other initiates pouring into the training center lead by Four. I took my place in between Kyra and Christina and sat across from Nina. "So why did he need to talk to you?" Kyra asked. I whispered back to her. "He wanted to know how I was feeling and that he would help train me if I needed it and I definitely know I'm going to need it." She giggled. "How nice of him." "Alright listen up!" Four yelled. "Today we will be working on teaching you the basic ways of holding a gun and firing them in the afternoon you will learn basic fighting skills and sparring with each other." I gulped as my eyes shifted from Four to Eric. Eric gave me a reassuring nod and I relaxed a bit.
