Chapter 11

[I changed Ara's brother's name to Vincent.]

I swear yesterday was just a dream. We snuck peace serum into Eric's drink and he skipped around Dauntless that was pretty funny but it was the part afterwards when he basically professed how much I meant to him. Even better he asked me to be his girlfriend. I'm not sure if leaders can be in relationships with initiates so for now this will be our little secret and I think I should open my eyes and wake up now but what if this is all a dream I don't want it to end oh well time to find out.

My eyes fluttered open taking in my surroundings. I was in Eric's room I recognized it from the previous nights I had stayed in his apartment but this time I felt his arm around my waist and sound of his soft snores. I let out a sigh of relief it wasn't all a dream it was real everything that happened was real. I laid still I didn't want this moment to end but I tilt my head over to the side table where his alarm clock sat it was 7am training would begin in an hour wait no we finished Phase one no it was visiting day. I instinctively flinched causing Eric to tighten his grip on me and wake up.

"Are you okay, Ara what is it?" He said pulling me closer to him.

I gulped. "today is visiting day, Eric." I managed to roll over and read the look on his face as he realized what that meant. His eyes narrowed as he held me to his chest. "What if he shows up."

He looked down at me and whispered, "I won't let him near you. I'll kill him."

There it was again. Eric's Dauntless leader side the side that was unpredictable, the side that scared me. I nodded. "So what time does that start?" He released me and rubbed his eyes and glanced over at the clock. "It starts at 9. So we have time to get breakfast."

I sighed in relief and rolled out of bed, straightening my clothes. I wrinkled my nose I was still wearing the clothes from last night.

"You can use my shower. It's better than the dorm ones."

I looked up at him and smiled but then remembered I didn't have any clothes here. "I don't have any clothes to change into." I watched him stand up and pull on his shoes. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to fetch you your clothes so you can take a shower nobody should be awake yet."

"Oh um okay thank you."

"You're welcome, babe." He said as he opened the door and walked out shutting it behind him.

He just called me babe.

Eric just called me babe.

I smiled to myself and walked to the bathroom and shut the door locking it. I glanced in the mirror and gasped my hair stuck up in different directions. I peeled off my clothes and turned on the water my eyes scanned over every scratch and bruise that I could see at least. Stepping into the shower my muscles relaxed under the warm water. I stood under the water for a while admiring the privacy I had and not having to worry about other initiates walking in on me like in the dorms. I finally came back to my senses and started to wash off. When I was done I turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around my body and unlocked the door peeking outside. I didn't see Eric so I opened the door fully and walked outside I didn't make it far though I slammed into him and yelped.

"Watch where you're going." Eric chuckled and handed me a bag. I took it with my free hand. I quickly turned around and headed back towards his bathroom and the whole time I was walking back I could feel him watching me.

"It's not nice to stare, Eric." I replied before shutting the door behind me and locking it once again. I heard him chuckle and walk away. I opened the bag and pulled out my leather leggings and a dark red V-neck shirt. After drying off I pulled the clothes on and towel dried my hair a bit but I decided to let it air dry. I walked out fully dressed to see Eric had changed as well.

"We should head back to the dorms and sneak you in. Can't have the others think something is going on. That's when I'll walk in and talk to them alright."

I nodded even though I knew that Kyra and Nina could totally see right through me and they already knew something was definitely going on between us. So with that we headed out towards the dorms. Eric checked if the coast was clear and signaled me to walk in. I tiptoed to my bed and laid down pulling the covers up. I waited and then heard him walk in.

"Alright wake up initiates. Today is visiting day and I'd like to remind all of you that it's Faction before Blood. Visiting hours start in an hour so I suggest you get breakfast."

I pulled the covers off and walked out not waiting up for my friends and headed to the dining hall. I sat down at one of the tables and waited for my friends to show up. I grabbed some pancakes and some eggs and put them on my plate. Nina slid into the seat next to me and Kyra across from me.

"So whose excited for their family visiting because I know mine won't." Kyra said.

"Way to kill the mood, Kyra." Nina spoke up.

I just sat there and ate my food. I knew my parents wouldn't show up I upset them enough by transferring plus I knew they were too busy. I however was still worried that my brother would come even though Eric reassured me. We continued eating in silence.

<Time skip to visiting hours>

We walked into the pit. Today you didn't only see black and grey but colors of the other factions filled the room. Nina ran off and approached a woman and young girl who looked about five. Kyra and Al were nowhere to be seen. Drew and Molly's families didn't show up but Peter's did. Will's sister from Erudite showed up I think I remember him telling us her name was Cara. Christina was with a young woman and girl I presumed to be her mother and sister. I glanced around the room scanning the surroundings. I looked to the corner and saw him standing there. My body immediately tensed up and I shut my eyes when I opened them again he was gone. My breathing became rapid and I started to panic I needed to find Eric but Nina grabbed my arm.

"Hey Ara! I want you to meet my family." She dragged me over to the man and young girl.

"Mom, Iris this is my friend, Ara." Nina introduced me to her mom and younger sister.

Nina's mom smiled at me. "Nice to meet you, Ara you can call me Kat." I smiled at her and replied "nice to meet you too."

"Mom, where's dad?" Nina's mom's expression changed and she frowned. "He couldn't make it but he loves you sweetheart." She nodded.

"Well I'm glad you and Iris came." She replied.

I glanced around uncomfortably. "Ara, where is your family?" I looked up at her and laughed nervously. "Oh, I came from Erudite I'm sure they are too busy to come and visit me anyway." She frowned. "Sorry to hear that hun."

"It's no problem really." I looked at Nina. "I have to go. See ya around." She looked at me suspiciously but let me leave. I practically ran out of the pit and towards the dorm. But somebody caught my arm I thought the worse and yelped.

"Ara! Calm down it's just me." I recognized that voice, it was Eric I instantly relaxed and wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders and rested my head on his chest. "Hey is everything alright?"

I sucked in a breath. "I don't know, I think I'm freaking out and seeing things but I swear somebody is following me."

"What do you mean?" He said.

I looked up and met his eyes and bit my lip. "I swear I saw Vincent back there in the pit." I felt his arms protectively wrap around me and pull me closer.

"Are you sure it was him?"

I sighed. "I don't know. I don't know if it's just my mind playing tricks on me or if it was him but I'm scared."

"Alright shh it's going to be okay. I'll alert Four to keep an eye out on the cameras and tell the guards to keep a look out but for now maybe you should head back to the dorms and get some rest."

I nodded and began to pull away but he stopped me and placed his hand on my cheek and brought his lips to mine. This was a soft, gentle kiss. He pulled away and smiled at me. "I love you, Ara."

I laughed lightly and pecked his lips and walked towards the dorms with my head down and a smile on my face. When I reached the doorway I looked up, my eyes widened and my body tensed up there he was sitting on my bed.

"Hello sister it's nice to see you again."
