^^Vitamin String Quartet cover of Get Lucky (enjoy!)
Lillian Mason
The plane went more smoothly than I thought, although most of the plane announcements were in German. During the flight, I did speak with the elderly woman beside me for a while. Her name was Laura, she had a son that lived in America and it was her first time coming to visit him there. She used to be a nurse in Amsterdam but moved to Berlin to be close to her family. She has five children and four of them live in Poland with tons of children. When the plane landed in Berlin, I waved goodbye to Laura and got my luggage. Stepping outside, there was a man to be in his mid-forties, carrying a sign with my name on it. I walked closer to him
"You Lillian Mason?" I smiled at the small man and nodded. He grabbed my luggage for me and placed them in a black taxi car.
"Where am I headed?" The man didn't reply to me. I guess I should start picking up on my German, now that I basically live here.
"Vorwand mich! Wohin gehen wir?" (Excuse me! Where are we going?)
"Ich fahre Sie in lhr neues Zuhause" (I'm taking you to your new home) I haven't gotten a place to stay at yet, I guess the symphony provides a place for the orchestra.
...
We pulled up at a huge building right beside the orchestra hall. The building was separated into two parts that were connected at the middle. Every window was decorated with dozens of orange tulips. This place reminded me of boarding school except this wasn't a school, it was making a living by playing a lot of music.
The small man got out first, opened my door, and started taking my bags out of the trunk.
"Danke, aber ich kann meine Koffer tragen." (Thank you, but I can carry my bags.) I assured the man, taking my three bags from his arms.
"Okay, das ist lhre Wohnug auf der dritten Etage und Zimmer vier" (Okay, your apartment is on the third floor and room four). After that, the man got in his car and drove away in a hurry. I pulled my bags into the apartment building, to be struck with the loud noise of instruments clashing together. This building must be just for orchestra members. I struggled to carry my bags up the narrow stair case and dropping one in the process.
"Need any help?" I looked up to find a pretty attractive tall boy with dark hair and bright blue eyes.
"Ugh... Probably... If you don't mind!" He picked up the fallen bag and took another from my right arm, leaving me with my violin and third bag.
"What room do you have?" I noticed his German accent behind his English words.
"Third floor... room four" I muttered.
"Ah! That room is next to my girlfriend's!" He gave me a smile, then turned to walk up the stairs. After climbing the three flights of stairs, he faced me and set my bags outside my door.
"Well there you go! My name is Cord and if you run into a girl named Mara, my girlfriend, you can ask us anything. We are having our first orchestra meeting at 6, so you should have plenty of time to get un-packed. See you around." And with that he left me alone in the empty hallway.
I pushed the door open while kicking my bags into the room. It looked like a separate apartment. There was plenty of furniture but plenty of room to decorate it as my own. After getting unpacked for a good forty-five minutes, I decided to explore the rest of the building. As I opened my door, a girl with long blonde hair appeared.
"Hallo! Ich habe gehort, dass wir heute ein neues Mitglied hatten! Welches Instrument spielst du? Wie alt sind Sie? Bist du Veganer? Woher kommen Sie?" (Hello! I heard that we got a new member today! What instrument do you play? How old are you? Are you vegan? Where are you from?) She spoke very quickly.
