Today was my first practice with the full orchestra. I walked with Mara and Chord (who were holding hands and being all lovey-dovey... EW) so I basically just kept to myself. When we got there, we all got our instruments out, tuned them, and applied some rosin on the bows. The principle players took their designated seats in the front. I locked eyes with Luka as he sat down placing his cello in between his legs and tightening his bow. I realized I was the only one standing...When I was a principle player in St. Louis, I had no trouble figuring out where I seated. There is no telling the kind of talent in this orchestra, for all I know I will be sitting in the far back.

The conductor walked on the stage with a confident stance, wearing an expensive suit. As soon as he walked on stage, he noticed I was the only one standing.

"Ich habe vergessen, einen Sitzplatz zu geben. Mein entschuldigt sich, Lillian. Kommen hier sitzen hinter Kama." (I forgot to assign you a seat. My apologizes Lillian. Come sit here behind Kama.) My first day and I have already gotten second chair! The person sitting in the second chair seat glared at me as he moved to the back of the violin section. I sat down and glanced over at Luka who was giving me a disgusted look. I didn't choose to take that person's spot. The principle violinist turned her stand and herself away from me. It was like everyone was shunning me besides Mara and Chord.

For the first thirty minutes, we all practiced scales and arpeggios. Then two songs were placed in front of us. Everyone immediately placed the songs into their special binders that were navy blue with gold lettering on the front. I guess the binders were only given to the actual members. The first song was a Concertino in D Major. This song consisted of dramatic shifting and dynamics. When it got to a violin solo, I really pushed myself to let everyone know I belonged in this orchestra! When the song was over, everyone looked over at me in shock. The conductor showed a hint of a smile then removed it and told everyone that it was a good practice and to be back here tomorrow the same time. As I packed up my violin, I made my way to the exit.

There was lighting tapping on my shoulder. I turned around seeing the conductor who stood a few inches taller than me.

"That was a remarkable performance you just did. I knew I made the right decision requesting you. Just ignore the people who were giving you the stink eye, they aren't used to a new person with more talent taking their spot."

"Thank you very much. I just wanted to make a good impression on my first day."

"And that you did. I highly recommend you try out for principle player. You came just in time a week before the tryouts. Now typically I have to accept who can tryout but obviously I accept you."

"Wow. Thank you, sir. Is there a certain song I need to perform?"

"Funny you asked that, I have a copy of the tryout piece in first violin right here." He pulled two pieces of sheet music out from behind him and handed it to me.

"Now, auditions are tomorrow. I'm looking for someone to really take control of the piece and make it their own. With your talent, you should have really no problem learning it. See you tomorrow!" After that, he left the building to his nice car. I looked down at the song and smiled to myself. I never thought this would turn out as good as it has. Yes, some people hate me but I was offered to try out for principle player on my first day.

I walked over to my bag and violin when I saw Luka laying against a wall on the right. He was looking right at me, probably scoping me out. He had such nice golden hair and the shirt he was wearing fit quite nicely against his fit body.... Snapping myself out of it I approached him with bag and instrument in hand.

"Hey! Nice first practice don't you think?"

"Well maybe for some people... just don't expect to get everything on your first day. Most people drop out due to the pressure and commitment by the first month."

"Well that definitely won't be the case for me. When I start something I finish it."

"Sure... I guess I'll see you at principle auditions." He said with fake enthusiasm.

"Good luck!" I yelled after him as he left.

Now to practice my butt off tonight.....

A/N

Hey everyone! I know this chapter is kind of a filler. It honestly will start out slow. (Personally I don't like it when a story just jumps right into it) Thank you all for reading this far and taking the time to appreciate it. Stay with me because I am going to try my very best to make this story at its fullest potential.
