During the rest of the train ride, James and Sirius attempted to comfort Remus, but Peter seemed very distant.
Once they got off the train, the four walked towards the carriages. James noticed how strangely his friend was acting and cleared his throat.
"Hey Pete, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Peter seemed confused and shrugged his shoulders. James took him aside and began to question. "What is going on with you? You've been acting strangely ever since we got on the train."
Peter just shrugged again. "I'm growing up James, and I'm learning to handle a little less crap." And he walked away.
James was baffled. Never had he heard his friend talk that way. But he supposed Peter was right. He couldn't just let people walk all over him. So James made a mental note to treat Peter with more respect
