It's been days, weeks maybe even a month. I've lost track of time. The only time I see someone is when they give me food twice a day. Well I think it's a day. I haven't showered or anything, which isn't that weird of a thing since I'm used to being dirty and gross but this, this was a bit much. The only thing that was keeping me sane was the small bouncy ball they gave me to throw against the wall. It was as much entertainment as watching a pebble being dropped over and over and over again. Finally the man I met when I first woke up here came in. I threw the bouncy ball right at his face, hitting him in the eye. He simply glared at me and continued walking towards me. He stopped about a yard in front of me.
"You're going to be going through the trails." He stated.
"What trials are you talking about?" I asked standing up.
"The Maze trials, the scorch trial, which you've already passed. Everything they are and went through, you're going to go through, but a bit different. You're going to be going alone." He said. I lunged at him but failed due to the handcuff around my ankle. I fell to the ground, face first. I pushed myself up and looked at him. "You can't make me do shit."
"We'll see about that." He said, turned on his heel and left. I sat down and pressed my back up against the wall. What does he mean backwards? My chest heaved with deep breaths. What was going to be in these trials? I was nervous. Would I make it out of these trials alive? I was starting to hyperventilate. What was going to happen to me?
A few days later, or maybe in a few hours later I couldn't tell, two men in all white came and unlocked my handcuff. Before I could run out they restrained my arms and legs and carried me out. I screamed and squirmed, doing my best to get out of their grip, I even bit one of them. Finally I got tired and let them carry me away. I would have to fight them once I got to the place they are taking me. I had to think of this perfectly. I turned my head to look around at my surroundings and my eyes widened. A group of people were in a glass room talking to each other. One pair of eyes caught mine. Newt stared at me as we walked by. He ran up to the glass and started banging on it.
"Echo!" He screamed.
"Newt!" I yelled back, thrashing against the men. "Newt you have to get out of here!" I screamed at him.
"We're going to help Echo! Hang on!" He yelled and started banging against the glass with his shoulder. I kept thrashing against the men but stopped when one pressed a pronged gun and electricity shot through me. I screamed and writhed in pain. Finally it stopped and I let my body droop down. Newt was still screaming my name as we turned the corner.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked, my voice hoarse from screaming.
"To the trails." One answered. I kept looking around my eyelids were getting heavy. Being electrocuted makes you tired...
When my eyes finally opened I was blinded by a bright light. People voices and a beeping noise filled the air. My eyes were blurred so all I could see were colored shapes moving about, and a bright light in front of me. Where was I?
"Put her back under, we're almost finished." I heard a voice said, but it was distorted a bit. A mask was placed over my mouth and the next thing I knew everything was black.
...
I jolted awake, only to be faced with darkness. My body ached from lying on the floor or whatever this was. I couldn't see a thing, everything was pitch black. I carefully stood up, using the wall of this place I am in to help me. Once I got up I let my hand run along the wall as I walked along it. Once my hand hit a corner I went along the next wall. After a while I realized it was a box. I was in a small box. I pressed my hands flat to the ceiling, since it was a very low one, and pressed. It didn't budge. I got down on my hands and knees and started to crawl, slowly, to the middle, making sure there wasn't anything I would fall into. My head collided with something hard, causing me to jump back. I held my hand to my head and carefully scooted forward to examine what I ran into. What I felt was another box, maybe a crate I couldn't tell without seeing it. I sighed and scooted back to the wall. I let myself rest against the wall. Where was I?
Suddenly the box jerked awake and started to rise. My head filled with panicked thoughts and I went into the corner, deciding it was the safest place, for now. A red flashing light flashed above me, giving me a glimpse of where I was going. The box was getting faster and faster, the noise getting louder and louder and my heart beating harder and harder. I kept looking up, hoping that it would stop before it hit something. The metal gears were grinding and shifting causing the air to fill with oil and loud, annoying sounds. I wanted to scream. It felt like this was never going to stop.
The box screeched to a stop. I tried to pace my breathing but it wasn't working. Nothing moved, but now there was a soft red light covering the box. I shakily walked towards the crates in the middle, now seeing they are wooden crate. On the first one was a note. I ripped it off and read it. It only had eight words on it:
Push on the top, and you will be out.
I was confused. Be out of the box? Or be out of this mess? I looked up and gently pressed the ceiling, this time it cracked open causing the red light to turn off and the box was filled with sunlight. I dropped the note and pushed as hard as I could to the top of the ceiling. The lid flipped open and I had to shield my eyes from the bright light. Once my eyes adjusted I stacked up the crates and climbed out of the box.
I stood in a field. I let my eyes roam but stopped when I saw giant stone walls, standing hundreds of feet tall and dressed in vines that dropped from the top and landed a few feet from the bottom. I turned all the way around and saw I was surrounded by them. As I gawked at the walls I noticed a two story, terribly built structure in one corner, a farm like area in another corner, wooded area in another and finally another, tinier building in the last corner. I was confused. Where was I? The sky was blue and the sun was out but I felt like everything was grey, lifeless.
I jumped back into the box I came from and grabbed a crate, I threw it up and did that with the rest. I climbed my way out and sat in front of one of the crates. I opened it and fresh fruit and vegetables came pouring out. I opened another and it was filled with clothes. Each one had a different thing, one had seeds, others had weapons. There was one left. I opened it and in it was a note. It had five simple words on them.
Welcome to the Glade, Greenie.
At first I didn't understand but then I remembered.
Newt and his friends came from the Glade.
Newt and his friends came from a maze filled with man eating monsters.
I was in a giant maze.
