I looked around. All four walls were surrounding me, no way out. So if this was the maze, where was it? I gathered all the food and clothes into one crate and drug it to the large building. When I got everything in there it was empty. I stood in a large room with nothing in it except a staircase leading up. I left the crates at the doorway and made my way up the stairs. Every step I took the floorboards creaked. Once I made it to the top I was met with a long hallway. Two doors on each side of the hallway were closed. I opened the first one and there sat a bed and a nightstand with a lamp on it. I closed the door and moved on with the other three rooms. In the last two rooms were two sets of beds, nightstands, lamps and cabinets filled with homemade remedies of medication I believe. These must be their little doctors office sort of thing. I made my way downstairs and back into the main room. This must be where they had meetings or just like a living area. I walked out of the building and went to the farm, there were baby animals roaming around in their little pens, and a small garden starting to grow. I went to the woods, and saw little headstone like things, names plastered on them. I shivered and left the woods. Lastly, I went to the littler shack and opened it up. A table sat in the middle, a lamp hanging above it, chests bordered the walls. I opened one and saw many rolled up sheets of paper. I took one out and noticed it was a map of something but I couldn't decipher what it was. I put it down and went to the table. Papers and pencils were strewn across it. I opened a few more chests to find clothing, more paper, backpacks, pencils, and even some weapons. Why would they need weapons? I walked out and into the middle of the "glade" as Newt and the note called it.
How long was I going to be here? I was starting to shake. I was alone, of course I was always alone but this was different. There were no cranks here, not even any munies. I sat down and stifled a sob. What did I do to deserve this? I've done nothing!
"I want to go back home!" I cried, "I want to be back with the cranks! I want to go back! Take me back!"
This place was already making me insane.
The sun was almost gone, the sky twinkling with stars. I laid on the ground, staring up at the stars. The stars were brighter then the ones in the scorch.
"Are they even real?" I asked myself. I shook my head, no they can't be. No stars can shine that brightly after what has happened. I wiped the tears off my face and made my way to the big building to sleep in one of the beds. As I got there I noticed a small little concrete building next to it. I walked towards it and saw it had a door with a lock on it. The door also had a barred window. I opened it up and saw an uneven looking chair sitting in the middle. What was this place? I closed the door and headed to the main building. Once I got upstairs I slipped into one of the beds and laid my head down.
"I hate this place." I whispered and closed my eyes
It took a few hours but I finally fell asleep.
...
I shot awake. A very loud rumbling noise filled the air. It sounded like rocks grinding together. I looked out of the window and saw the sun was just over the walls. Then I noticed all four walls opening, revealing more vine-covered walls. The grinding finally stopped and now there stood four doorways. My eyes widened. Was that the maze?
I raced down the stairs, pulling my shoes on and ran straight to one of the doors, I guess you would call it. I looked out and only saw more and more cement walls covered in vines. I was about to step foot into the maze when my stomach growled. Before I go exploring I should get prepared. Who knows how long I will be out there for. I headed to the farm area, where I saw a shack along with it and entered it. It was full of cooking supplies and even some food. I looked through the cabinets but couldn't find any cans of food. I don't know how to make food, I don't know anything but what I get in the dumpsters at the Scorch. I simply grabbed a few apples and munched on them while going to the map room, as I decided to call it. I grabbed a backpack and put some pencils and paper in it so I could mark where I went and how many times I turned left. I needed a good way back. I went back to the food room and grabbed some more fruit and some bread and shoved them in the backpack. I grabbed five water bottles and put them in there too. I made it back to one of the doors and stepped foot in the new area.
Time to explore.
