I groaned in pain. My eyelids slowly opened to a bright light. I blinked and shielded my eyes from the bright light. Once the sleep was out of my eyes and my eyes were adjusted to the new lighting, I sat up. A white wall greeted me. I looked to the left of me and saw another white wall. Where am I? I turned to my right and saw a white wall, next to it was a body.

Newt.

My eyes widened and I got up and ran to him. When I was half way to him I was thrown back. I got up and walked to the middle of the room. I reached my hand out to and it was stopped by an invisible force. I banged on it but nothing happened.

"Newt!" I screamed. He didn't move. My heart stopped. Was he dead?

"Newt!" I screamed again. I banged on the wall and screamed his name again but he wasn't moving. I stopped and focused on him. His chest rose and fell at a steady pace. He was alive. But he couldn't hear me. What is this thing? Where are we? I sat down and kept my eyes on Newt, I hope he wakes up soon. I scooted over to the wall and leaned against the invisible wall and closed my eyes.

My eyes snapped open and I looked around. I looked over where Newt was and saw him standing up, talking to a man with a long nose, balding head and was very tall and slim. He looked somewhat familiar. I got up and banged against the invisible wall. The man glanced over at me for half a second then went straight back to Newt. Newt must have got him looking over here because he turned and looked at me.

"Newt!" I yelled. He ran over and placed his hands on the invisible wall. I placed my hands where his was.

"Newt!" I yelled again. He looked like he was yelling my name. The man came up and put a hand on Newt's shoulder and told him something. Newt looked at me, sorrow in his eyes. What's going on? Newt turned and looked at the man and told him something. I don't know what he was saying. The man nodded his head and pulled a device out of his pocket. He pressed a button on it and a static noise filled my side of the room.

"What's going on?" I asked out loud.

"Echo!" Newt said. My eyes widened and I looked at him. He could hear me and I could hear him!

"Newt!" I said. "What's happening?"

"Ms. Echo everything is going to be fine. We're simply going to do a few tests, you or Mr. Newton will not be harmed so you have nothing to be afraid of." The man said.

I looked at Newt.

"I don't like this." I said, "Where are we?"

"We're at WICKED headquarters." The man said.

"Why? Why can't you just let us be?" I cried.

"Because you two are part of saving the human race." The man said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You two are going to be the ones to help us find the cure of the flare. We just need to do a few more tests and we will be finished." The man said. "Then we can help everyone and return the world back to normal."

"What if we don't want to do your tests?" Newt asked.

"You see Mr. Newton, you don't have a choice because we're not telling you what the tests are. They could be anything from eating, to simply sitting there." The man said.

"This is unfair!" I yelled, "Didn't you put them through the trails already?"

"Yes but this is different. It's just you two this time." He said and left, casually walking through the wall. Newt ran to the wall where he disappeared and banged on it.

"Newt." I said, walking over to the invisible wall.

He sighed and walked over to the invisible wall as well.

"I can't believe this is happening." He mumbled, leaning against the wall and scooting down. I did the same and rested my head on the invisible wall.

"I can't believe it either." I said. He yelled out and punched the invisible wall, causing me to jump.

"This is ridiculous! Why can't they just leave us be?" He cried out.

"Calm down!" I said, "There's no use in screaming."

"I know." He said. He sighed and rested his head against the invisible wall, I did the same.

"I hate them." He mumbled. I looked over and saw tears in his eyes.

"I hate them too. I want them dead." I whispered. "The most we can do is just go through their trials."

He looked at me. "No! I can't! I was promised paradise after we saved you and the immunes from the bloody maze! I can't do this anymore Echo, I'm getting sick and tired of their klunk!" He yelled.

"If we do this maybe they'll let us go!" I yelled back.

"Or kill us!" He said. I sighed and turned the other way.

"We can't do anything in here. If we're in here long enough we can make a plan and I suggest we start because, I don't know about you but I will not die in here." I closed my eyes and hoped to fall asleep.
