~A few weeks later~
I woke up and went straight to the garden to check on my vegetables and whatnot. They were growing nice. The animals were older and started breeding that meant I could have meat soon. I have already milked the cows and got really good milk. Everything was starting to be under control now. My ankle is still weak but it's healing pretty well. I didn't need my crutches anymore. I haven't been in the maze since my first time. I was thinking about going out there today, but this time making sure I could find my way back by sundown.
Before I could reach the east door a loud alarm went off. I jumped up and looked around. Nothing was moving. Suddenly a loud bang from the box shot through the glade. I ran to the box and opened it up. Inside were crates. I opened one up and saw supplies, clothes, seeds, water, and other things. I smiled.
I pulled all of the crates out and started putting them in their proper places. I had a system going and it was working really well. Now all I need to do is have a better system where I can go out into the maze each day or every other day.
It took all day just to put everything away so tomorrow I will be running or just walking, the maze. I'm going to be extra careful this time and will bring extra food and weapons with me. I walked upstairs to my room and fell asleep. I have long day tomorrow.
In the morning I took a shower, ate, and grabbed all of my gear. I walked over to the west wall and waited for it too open. When it opened I walked into the maze. It seemed to be the same, then again I don't remember which door I entered last time. I walked the maze, marking down when I turn, which walls look like they move and whatnot. I was not going to get lost this time.
Around noon I sat down and ate a sandwich and drank one bottle of water. I think I don't think I can run anymore, I really messed up my ankle. After I ate I continued walking the maze, so far no grievers.
When the sun started setting I saw the doors that opened to the glade. I ran the rest of the way in and the doors started shutting behind me. I looked behind me and saw it was still the west doors. I walked to the kitchen area and made myself diner. When I was finished I took another shower and went to bed.
This time when I wake up I get my gear and go out the east door. What if it goes in a circle? I want to try and go from the east door to the west door, but I doubt I can do that today. Maybe in the future.
As I was walking I stopped in my tracks. A griever was standing only a few yards away from me. I held my breath and back away slowly. It suddenly started moving, but not towards me, away from me. I furrowed my eyebrows. Where was it heading? Maybe I can find where they come from and block it off somehow. I slowly and quietly followed it. When I turned the corner it turned my eyes got wide. Hundreds of them were all walking in a line, towards something. I stayed behind them and followed.
Where were they going?
When they turned a corner I did as well, and I gasped. They all stopped and stood at the edge of some sort of cliff. Was this the end of the maze? The one in the very front jumped off and the rest started to follow.
Why were they jumping off?
By the time the last one jumped off, the sun was going down. I had followed it until it had jumped off. I looked down and saw nothing. Where did they go? Do they keep falling for eternity? Should I jump?
My heart skipped a beat when I thought that.
If I did jump who would miss me? I already know the answer to that. No one will because I have no one. But is it worth it to jump? I sat down and let my legs hang off. Would I feel any pain? Or would I never stop falling? If I wanted to kill myself I would simply jump off one of the maze walls or just hang myself with one of the ropes back in the glade. I sighed and got up. I needed to head back to the glade before the doors close. I would rather not climb the walls again.
When I got back I simply went to bed, I lost my appetite after thinking about killing myself. The thought still lingered in my head as I was asleep. I had a dream where I jumped off the cliff and I fell forever and ever. I woke up in the middle of the night screaming, just like I was falling. When I fell asleep again, I didn't dream.
I nearly jumped out of bed when I heard a wail. I pulled on my shoes and grabbed a knife I kept next to me. I ran to the window and nearly fainted. Hundreds of people were standing outside. Men, women and even children wondered around the glade. The doors were closed there are people everywhere. My eyes widened.
