chapter seven
( x factor days )
"Hey, Lou?"
"Yeah?" Louis asked not sticking his nose out of his book.
Harry fidgeted with his hands and clung onto a pillow.
They were in their room at the X Factor house. Niall, Zayn, and Liam had gone out to celebrate that they had made it to the finals. They had offered the two to come with them but Louis had said he wanted to stay in that night, so naturally Harry offered to stay with him.
Harry sighed, "What," He paused. "What if we don't win?" He asked quietly.
Louis looked up at him through his glasses and tilted his head. "What do you mean? If we don't win it means we didn't win, Haz." He joked.
Harry didn't laugh though. He always laughed at Louis' jokes not matter how shitty they could be and vice versa. Louis looked at him a bit worried. He set down his book and placed his glasses on the nightstand next to his bed. He got up from his bed and sat down next to Harry on his bed.
"What's wrong, Haz?" He asked and placed his hand on his forearm.
Harry's breathing became uneven and his eyes started to glaze over with tears.
"I mean, what if we lose? What's going to happen to all of us? I can't imagine a life without you and the lads now." Harry's voice trembled.
Louis looked at him sadly. He opened his arms for the younger boy and Harry gave into the hug. Louis ran his hand through his mess of curls affectionately. "What do you think is gonna happen if we don't win?" Asked Louis.
Harry grabbed Louis' hand and traced the outline of his palm, trying to distract himself. "I don't really know." He admitted. Harry's hands were large and rough. Louis' hands were small, smaller than Harry's hands, and soft as silk.
"But," Harry continued, "I am afraid of something."\
"And what's that?"
"That we'll drift apart. All five of us, but I'm afraid of losing you out of all people. Ever since I met you in the toilets-"
"You pissed on me, Harry." Louis laughed.
Harry flushed and smacked his arms. "I said I was sorry!"
"I know, Hazza." He laughed.
"Shut up, you fool let me finish."
Louis raised his hands up as if leaving the topic alone.
Harry huffed. "As I was saying, ever since that day when I met you in the toilets, I kinda knew you'd be special. But now I think of how all of this is coming to an end, and I can't help but to wonder what will happen to us." His voice shook with every word he spoke.
"Harry.." Louis wiped away a tear off Harry's cheek. He didn't even know he had started to cry. "You're my best friend, I love you so much nothing is going to happen to us." He told him.
Harry sniffled. "But you're probably gonna go back to Doncaster and I'll go back to Holmes Chapel. You think we're even gonna see each other again?"
"We will." Louis said quickly. "I'll visit often don't you worry. Besides I would love to see you working in that bakery you always talk about imagine how cute you look." Louis joked.
Harry smiled through his tears. He rested his head on Louis' chest, "I'm going to miss you so much, Lou."
Louis sighed. "You think I won't? You've became my best friend in just a few months. I'm going to miss you like crazy."
