The next day Lucy walked to the guild still thinking of their new member. She wondered if she really could be stronger then Master Makarov. It seemed impossible to her.

She walked into the guild and looked around. It was filled with her friends, talking spiritedly and laughing. Cana had already started drinking. She walked in and her eyes immediately caught sight of the new girl.

"Arvis" she whispered. That's Arvis Slayer.

The girl was sat by herself at a table, with nothing in front of her. But what really struck Lucy was though Arvis had a bored expression on her face tears were slowly falling down her cheeks. She's crying, Lucy thought sadly.

Lucy went to the bar where Mira was standing. "Good afternoon Lucy" Mira greeted.

"Hi Mira. Do you know why Arvis is crying?"

"Aye!" Happy popped up on the bar top. "Arvis is crying because her master died" he said much more sadly.

"Her master died? But he was just fine yesterday."

"You sure are dense Lucy" Happy said.

Lucy growled at the blue cat.

Mira frowned. "I talked to master about it last night. He says the only reason he had her join a guild is because he was dying. He says Master Fuji loved Arvis like a daughter. He'd never leave her if he didn't have to."

"He knew he was dying?" she whispered to herself. Lucy looked back at Arvis who stared ahead tears still running down her cheeks. "Should we do something? It feels mean to just ignore her."

"I feel the same way but she doesn't know us or trust us. Master says she is very distrustful and likes to keep to herself. I'm not sure if anything we did would do any good" Mira said.

Lucy frowned looking back at her friend. "But she looks so sad."

Suddenly Natsu's loud voice erupted through the guild. "YOU'RE GOING DOWN STRIPPER!"

Lucy sighed. They were at it again.

"WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT FIGHTING?!" Erza said breaking them up.

Levy came over and sat in the spot next to Lucy. "Hi Lucy."

"Hi Levy. How are you?"

"I'm good" she said with a frown. "But its hard to think of anything other than Arvis. She hasn't stopped crying all morning."

"That's it." Lucy got up and grabby Happy.

"Hey! Let go of me Lubby!"

"My name's Lucy!"

Lucy walked over to the table where Arvis sat. she stopped before it and Arvis looked up meeting her gold eyes with Lucy's.

Lucy flinched, slightly intimidated by her cold stare. "Hi" she said quietly. Arvis just stared at her. "Listen I'm really sorry about what happened to your master. I can't imagine what you're feeling. But I want you to know you're apart of the guild now and we're always there for each other. So if you ever need us, I want you to know we're here."

Arvis gave a nod and then looked away.

Later that day Mira went to see Master Makarov. He hadn't left his office all day. She knocked and slowly pushed the door open. "Master?" she called.

"What is it Mira?" he called sadly.

Mira frowned. "I came to make sure you were okay. You've been hauled up here all day."

She finally saw her master sat in his chair slumped over on his desk with red eyes.

"Master" she whispered. "I came because I thought Arvis could use someone. She needs someone she knows."
