Slayer

The Past

Mira couldn't stand not knowing. Laxus was a steel vault when he got stubborn. Arvis wouldn't open up to a complete stranger. So the only other person who would know is Master Makarov.
Mira quickly devised a plan. She had to get Laxus out of the guild for a while so she could interrogate master.
"Freed!" she called.

Within half an hour Freed had gotten Laxus out of the guild.
Mira ran to where Makarov sat drinking.
"Master!" She called.
She startled him and he dropped his mug.
"What is it Mirajane?" he asked.
"What happened between Laxus and Arvis?"
Makarov looked down. "They fought. You saw it yourself."
Mirajane grabbed his ear and pulled him up off the table.
"Owww oww oww, Mirajane!"
"In the past Master. What happened in the past?"
She set him down and Makarov took a second to rub his red ear. Then he sighed and looked off. "It was many years ago."
Everyone went quiet wanting to hear the story.
"It started when Laxus was 8 and Arvis was 10."
"Arvis is older than Laxus?!" Natsu interrupted.
"Much to his displeasure" Makarov chuckled. "Master Fuji contacted me and said he and his new apprentice were coming to visit. He'd told me years before he'd taken on a new apprentice but I'd yet to meet them so I welcomed his visit eagerly."

Flashback:
Makarov and Laxus fought in the back of the guild. Laxus was such a cute kid. So eager to learn and become stronger.
They were interrupted by clapping. They paused and Makarov grinned seeing his old master.
"Master Fuji, so good to see you." He went over and welcomed his master. Then next to him he saw a small girl. He looked at her shocked. He's expected a pupil a little older than her.
"Master Fuji, the way you described your apprentice I expected someone a little older. She must be Laxus' age."
"She's 10" he said with a chuckle.
"Hmm she's two years older than him but she's much smaller than him" Makarov murmured.
The girl frowned. "What I lack in muscle I more than make up for in power and intelligence. Thank you very much" the young girl quipped back. Master Fuji chuckled to himself while Makarov stood with his mouth agape.
"Hey don't talk to my grandpa like that!" Laxus growled coming over. "He's the guild master of the strongest guild. Show him some respect!"
"If your the ones that's going to make me I think I'll be just fine."
"What's that supposed to mean?!" he growled.
"Hmmm, I have to spell it out too. Weak and dumb, you're not going to make a very good wizard. It means that you're not as strong as me."
Arvis was suddenly bopped in the head with Master Fuji's cane.
"Owww!" she cried holding her tender head. She looked up at her master with small tears in her eyes. "That hurt you old turd!" she said in her tiny voice.
"You've been isolated with me so long it seems you've forgotten your manners. Good wizards are humble and kind. Apologize to Laxus."
Arvis frowned but turned back to Laxus and said, "I'm sorry you're so weak."
Another bop to the head from his cane.
"Oww!"
"Do it right Arvis" he scolded her.
"I'm sorry!" she wailed.
The adults got to talking and catching up. Laxus and Arvis just sat around staring at the ground and occasionally at the other. They both wanted to talk with the other but a stubborn streak in both stopped them.
When they got up to go inside Arvis tripped falling on her back. She cried out holding her head and tears swelling in her eyes. Laxus went to help her up but tripped himself and landed on top of her. They stared at each other with wide eyes and red faces.
Flashback end:

Master Makarov laughed loudly. "To this day neither of them know it was Master Fuji that tripped both of them."

Mixed expressions were on the faces of the guild members. Happiness, sadness, amusement, and even a couple loving.

"Very quickly they became inseparable. It was a couple weeks later I realized it was Master Fuji's plan all along to have them become friends.
They soon started coming over every other weekend, then every weekend. Whether it was training or going on adventures they both waited anxiously for Friday to come so they could be reunited. My little Laxus was growing up getting his first crush on a girl."
