Arvis was sat outside of Fairy Tail, laying on the grass and staring up at the sky. It had started out as a beautiful day but gray clouds were starting to roll in, turning the sky much darker.
Laxus came out and found her. "Arvis. Come inside, it's going to rain soon."
"I don't mind the rain" she said.
Laxus was curious about the mood she was in. So he laid down next to her and gazed at her. "Is everything alright?"
It had been five days since she lost her memory.
"Mhmm." She closed her eyes.
But Laxus could hear the unease behind her voice. He wasn't sure what she needed to hear but he knew what he needed to tell her. "Arvis..." As much as it killed him he knew he had to tell her. "I lied to you."
She opened her eyes and looked at him shocked. Her golden eyes bored into his.
He grabbed her and pulled her up with him as he sat up. "I'm not your boyfriend."
"Why would you lie to me?" she asked in a small voice.
"Just listen please!" He stared in her eyes begging. She nodded. "The truth is we met when I was 8 an you were ten. We became best friends and when he got a little older we liked each other. Well I at least liked you. But this horrible thing happened and we hated each other. You just joined Fairy Tail and we found out that we were hating each other for no reason." Laxus exhaled loudly. "The reason I lied was because....I still want to be with you." He waited a moment looking down. He worried how she would take it. He cringed waiting for her to hit him or scream at him. He hated the thought of her never speaking to him again. That was the worst possible outcome for him.
"Wow" she said.
He peeked at her and was surprised to see everything but anger on her face. There even was a smidge of happiness as her lips were curled up in a smile.
"You're taking this very well" he said cautiously.
Arvis looked down, her smile falling. "I have a confession as well."Raindrops began falling. Thunder called in the distance. The storm was beginning.
"What do you mean?" Laxus asked. "Did you not lose your memory?"
She chuckled. "No, I did." She bit her lip and pulled her legs closer. "But I broke the spell on the second day." She looked further away from him.
Laxus gasped quietly. He couldn't believe she'd had her memory the whole time. He then remembered her head hurting and realized he'd been lied to.
"So....you knew?" He looked at her form and it was a fidgeting mess. She was as remorseful as he was. She couldn't even look towards him.
"Yeah."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
She shrugged. "Things were easy between us. Like they used to be." Arvis dared a peek at him and as soon as he met his grey eyes looked away. "I know things got clarified but it was hard to let go of those feelings I'd built towards you. I built a wall around all those things I used to feel around you and it was hard to let them out. So I thought it would be nice to start again."They were both soaked sitting out in the pouring rain.
They were quiet for a while, each processing the situation."Laxus?" she asked breaking their silence. She looked at him meeting his eyes. "Back before all of that stuff happened I really liked you."
"I liked you too" he responded with red cheeks.
"But now I don't know what to do." She looked at him earnestly and vulnerable. "I don't know if we can be together."
Laxus' heart sank. This isn't how he wanted the conversation to go. "We were happy this week."
"That was based on a lie. We can't say what happened in the past never happened."
Laxus growled becoming frustrated. "Why does that have to affect us!? It has nothing to do with us now!"
She reached over and held his face. She came closer and stared into his eyes. "I just need time to think. Would it be awful of me to ask you to wait for me?"
Laxus wrapped his arms around her pulled her into his lap. "I may have been upset with you all those years but I never stopped waiting for the moment you would be back in my arms. I can wait a little longer."
She smiled sweetly at him. She pecked his cheek and tried to move back but Laxus held her tighter. She looked at him perplexed.
"Don't make me wait too long" he said quietly.
She nodded and he let her go.
She got up and walked inside the guild.2 weeks later~
Laxus hadn't heard anything from Arvis since. He'd been waiting anxiously. He'd hoped for some sort of answer by the now. The longer she took the more he thought he'd lost her forever.
He was drinking with Freed and Bickslow when a little giggle caught his attention. He looked back and it was indeed Arvis' giggle. She was sat at a table with Lucy and Levy, and Droy one of Levy's teammates was putting on an act for them.
He growled hating her smile for anyone else.
He'd also worried some other wizard might come while she thought over their standing and make her forget about him.
"LAXUS!!" His name being called pulled his attention back to where he sat. Makarov was standing before him. Unconsciously he'd been pushing out power. Electricity cracked around the room.
"Stop Laxus!" Makarov called.
He calmed immediately and the room went still. He got up from his chair and left scowling.
He was found not much later by his grandfather.
Makarov sat down next to him on the balcony. "Is everything alright?" he asked his grandson.
Laxus growled. "I didn't mean to do that."
"I know that" Makarov said understand.
"Just seeing someone else with her... It's driving me insane not knowing."
"I'm not sure I understand" Makarov said.
Laxus told him everything that had happened 2 weeks ago and how he was now waiting for her decision.
"I see" he said. "Look Laxus," The Lightning slayer looked at his grandfather with a pitiful frown. "You may not believe me but things will work out. Maybe Arvis wasn't meant to be yours or maybe it's been fate since both of your births. Either way one thing is true." Laxus looked at his grandfather waiting. "You brought a lot of happiness to that girl. Becoming friends with you changed her for the better. You may not have seen it growing up with her but I did. Arvis will never forget you."That night Laxus was tossing and turning having yet another restless night as he found no peace in his sleep.
He was growling in his sleep when a hand on his chest woke him up. He woke with a fright but calmed seeing lovely eyes staring down at him. He took her hand from his chest and nuzzled it against his face.
She laid down in the bed with him and curled up closely to him. She wrapped her small arms around him. "I'm so proud of you Laxus" she whispered.
Laxus whimpered, "Mom."
But then she was gone.
Laxus began snarling as he wasn't ready to say goodbye again.
"LAXUS!"
He finally opened his eyes and staring at him were golden eyes filled with concern.
Laxus went still under her touch, taking a moment to orient himself. He'd never felt so uneasy and confused.
He then took notice that he was sat up in his bed with Arvis' legs around his waist. She held his face and she looked so scared and worried. Her wide eyes stared into his searching for his sanity.
"Arvis" he whispered sounding almost scared himself. He grabbed her waist, holding her tightly.
"I'm here. I'll always be here." She checked over him to make sure nothing was actually hurting him. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
Laxus sighed sinking back from her touch and letting go of her. "It was just a nightmare."
"What was it about?"
"I don't remember" he lied.
Laxus laid back down and sighed closing his eyes. "Thank you Arvis, but I want to be alone."
"No" she cried.
He opened his eyes and saw tears swelling in the corners of her eyes.
"You need me" she protested. "You were there when I needed you so I'm gonna be here when you need me."
"Arvis I'm fine" he said with a sad smile.
"You called my name!"
Laxus was surprised by that. He didn't remember dreaming anything about Arvis.
Arvis slumped on top of him, laying her head on his chest and grabbing his hand like a snapping turtle and refusing to let go.
"I'm not going anywhere until I know you're okay."
Laxus took a deep breath and put his free arm around her body. "If you wanted to stay the night with me all you had to do was ask."
He felt her shake with a silent chuckle. In the morning Laxus woke up feeling oddly refreshed. Arvis was asleep on top of him where she'd laid last night. The only thing different was that her hand was limp in his.
Laxus was at a table eating a sandwich. Arvis sat next to him with a half eaten apple.
"Hello" she said. They were having a calm conversation feeling much more comfortable with each other.
Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and Gray came over. "Laxus! Tell Gray I can't be scared" Natsu claimed.
Laxus smirked with a chuckle. "We all know you're a huge whimp" Laxus teased.
"I am not!" Natsu called.
Laxus turned to Arvis. "Arvis why don't you do what you did on my 10th birthday.
Arvis smirked evilly looking at her friends.
