Laxus and Arvis walked silently as they had for the last few hours. The guild was long behind them but the tension was still there.
Laxus was a ball of nerves inside, though playing off well with a cool exterior and an icy stare forward.
He checked her out, peeking through the corners of his eyes.
She was ahead of him by a couple steps, staring ahead with her golden eyes.
Laxus checked over her figure as she walked, the sway of her hips enticing to the Lightning slayer. Her figure was tempting to him. When he was younger Laxus had thought her breasts were full but he was wrong seeing them today. They'd doubled in size, perfect to fit in his large hands.
He also enjoyed her long legs as they strode with confidence and the ass that connected them and jiggled as she walked.
But in the midst of his checking out Arvis turned her head back feeling his stare. She looked back with her head cocked back at a jaunty angle. Her bored expression startled him out of his stare. He looked away acting as if he wasn't just caught staring her her ass.

"If anything you should be staring ahead instead of at my ass."
"I wasn't staring at your ass" Laxus muttered.
"You obviously were" she said with a hundred percent certainty.
"There's nothing extraordinary too stare at" he said defensively. Lie. After getting over their fight Laxus had taken quick notice to how her body had matured.

They'd been walking for a couple hours and the sun was beginning to set, turning the sky a vibrant orange and pink.
They'd forgone taking a train or any other type of transportation.
Arvis suddenly stopped. Laxus stopped next to her and looked to her, wondering what had caused her to freeze.
"It's getting late" she said gently. "We should make camp here before it gets to dark."
Laxus raised a brow. "I don't remember you being scared of the dark."
"I'm not" she said with a growl.
It was the middle of the night when Arvis was woken from her slumber by a rustling sound.  She snapped up in her sleeping bag, alert and on the defense.
She looked around her hawk like eyes searching for anything.
Seeing nothing she looked across their camp where Laxus slept. He was leant up against a tree with arm crossed and a peaceful expression on his face. She took a moment to gaze at him. She hadn't really had the chance since they'd been reunited.
Laxus had grown. His face had sharpened, his jaw much stronger than all those years ago. She thought he was handsome back then but now he was  damn sexy. He'd always been more muscular than her but now his muscles were damn impressive.

"Laxus!" she called. She waited a moment and he remained still. "LAXUS!" she yelled.
His eyes fluttered open and for a moment he sleepily gazed at her. His grey eyes were calm and he looked at her with an expression she hadn't seen in a while. It was care.
But just as quickly as it showed it was devoured by annoyance and anger.
"What?" he growled.
"Someone or something is watching us" she warned him.
"Tch" Laxus brushed off. "If anything is dumb enough to attack us it deserve what's coming to it." He closed his eyes and got comfortable back against the tree. "Go back to sleep" he muttered.

Arvis frowned deeply at his brushing off of her warning. "Fine. I'll go check it out. Don't get eaten by monsters while I'm away. Makarov will hate me if you die on my watch."
She got out of her sleeping bag and stormed off to check out the possible threat.
Laxu had peeked an eye open and had quite the pleasure to see her in her pajamas again. She wore short shorts and a crop top. Lots of skin for the dragon slayer to admire.

Laxus didn't respond. Deciding to be stubborn and go back to sleep. Well try to go back to sleep. But he couldn't stop thinking about Arvis wondering though the woods alone.
After about ten minutes of being stubborn, he opened his eyes, sighing loudly and got up to go make sure nothing hurt her. Gramps would kill me if anything happened to her, he thought.
He walked the path he guessed she took calling out her name every so often.

"Arvis!" he called for the hundredth time.
The bushes to his side moved. He snapped his gaze to it and stepping out of it was a young Arvis, looking about the age when they first met, if not younger.
He gasped as he couldn't believe the sight before him.
She was crying. Rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands she came forward cautiously.
"Arvis" he said stunned. "What happened to you?"
"I don't know" she cried. "All I saw was this light and then I was a lot smaller."
Laxus immediately narrowed his eyes at her.
"You're not Arvis" he said.
Her bottom lip quivered. "What do you mean of course I am. Why are you being so mean?"
He looked at the imposter unamused. "Arvis hates me at the moment and she sure as hell wouldn't act so defeated, crying for no reason."
The young child smirked, the water works coming to an end. "How observant" cooed a much different and creepier voice.
Then the imposter transformed. The once small child now a snake woman. She stared at him with crazed reptile eyes. "So you saw right through me?"

A Syrit. Syrits were forest dwelling creatures that used telepathy magic to read your mind and find your weakness. They transform into whatever they think will make you vulnerable and try to weaken you so their little minions can ambush you.

Laxus gazed to the other side hearing something sound like a tree falling. He wondered if Arvis was okay, and if she'd run into one.

Arvis new the moment 'Laxus' stepped in front of her that he was a fake. Syrits could imitate almost everything about people except their smell and their magic.
Laxus jogged up to her panting. "There you are. I've been running around this whole damn forest looking for you!" he growled.
Arvis smirked, deciding to play along to see how it played out.
"Come on, let's get out of this forest it's almost morning." He grabbed her and tried to lead her the opposite way of where they needed to go.
She stopped in her tracks refusing to move a step.
"Huh, what are you-"
He was cut off by Arvis kicking him into a tree and completely snapping it in half.
The tree fell making a loud boom echo through the morning.
Laxus got up growling as he ducted himself off. "What the fuck was that for?!" he bellowed.
"I don't want to go that way" she said simply.
"That's the way to get out of the first dumbass!" fake Laxus yelled.
She sneered at him.
"Listen" he send gently and coming closer. "I didn't mean to yell at you or call you that. But I need you to be safe and you're not safe here. There's monsters lurking around." Fake Laxus looked deeply in her eyes trying to seduce her with a failed attempt of a smoldering look.
He then began to lean in and shut his eyes. He was trying to kiss her.
Flashbacks of just a day ago flashed when actual Laxus had kisses her. And instantly she felt the feeling of his lips on her again. Her heart beat quickened. The uneasy feeling made her upset and confused. So to deal with these emotions so unfamiliar to her she decided the game was up. She didn't want to play with the Syrit anymore.
She head butted him in the face harshly, snarling under her breath.
He flew back grabbing his nose. "What the fuck Arvis?!" He complained.
She paid him no mind. Continuing she grabbed his arm and began to fling him, spinning him in the air and releasing, locking into a very thick tree.
She flashed to him immediately and threw him to the ground.
In her hand a ball of crackling power grew and she slammed it on to him twice before getting up and moving away.
She fixed her hair, pushing back a piece of bang that had escaped her ponytail.
When the smoke cleared in a crater in the ground was an unconscious Syrit.
The real Laxus walked out from behind the tree.
"Oh so it was Syrit" she played coy to piss him off.
"You did all that thinking it was me?!" he snarled furious.
She shrugged. "You were being annoying."
