Edward and I sit next to each other and hold hands. Then I help him sit back on the bed so that his wounds won't hurt.

"Thanks, Alice," he says. "Hey, aren't you-"

I shut him up with a kiss. He kisses back and uses his good hand to hold my waist. Then the door opens, revealing Ross and Brosch, who obviously, just saw that we were kissing.

"SORRY, SIR!" They say at the same time. "WE'LL COME BACK ANOTHER TIME!"

"Nonononononono!" Edward and I say at the same time with our faces red like tomatoes.

"You can stay," I say, "really."

The two soldiers exchange looks and then they get serious again.

"Why did you sneak out like that?" Ross asks.

"We needed to find out more about how the stones were made," Edward replies.

"SIR!" They say. "WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR THIS!"

Liutenant Ross takes a step forward and smacks Edward, leaving his cheek red.

"What the hell?!" I take Edward in my arms.

"Alice, it's alright," Edward says. "I mean, look at all the trouble I got us in. I really did deserve that. Ross, Brosch, you don't have to address me as a superior either, alright?"

So he can take a slap but he hates being called small? He's too cute!

"And also," he says, "I need you to help me get to a phone. I need to call in my mechanic to fix up my arm."

I help him up and we go into the hallway. Edward grabs a phone and dials. He places the phone so that we can both hear the call.

"Hello, Rockbell Aiutomail Prosthetics!" Winry answers sweetly.

"Winry!" Edward says, "it's me!"

"Ed?" She says, "since when do you bother to call?"

"I..." He rolls his eyes. "Look, my arm needs some fixing. Do you think you could come here?"

"WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY PRECIOUS CREATION?" She yells.

"Just get over here, alright?" Edward says after rubbing his ear in pain.

"Alright, I'll get there as soon as possible," Winry says and then hangs up.

And indeed, she barely takes any time to get here. I sit next to Edward while he has his breakfast (and he avoids the milk, of course), when the door opens and Winry comes in.

"Edward!" She throws a tool at him. "What happened? Oh, hi, Alice!"

"Hey!" I say happily.

"Long story," Edward says.

She throws another tool at him. "And drink your milk! HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO BE TALL IF YOU DON'T DRINK YOUR MILK?"

"DON'T SAY THAT!"

She notices Edward and I are holding hands, and then she sighs and smiles. "Why didn't you tell me you two are dating?"

"It happened recently," Edward says with an adorable blush, and then he squeezes my hand.

We hear the door close, and I get a glimpse of who was in the door.

"Was that Alphonse?" Edward says worriedly.

"Yeah..." I reply.

"Well..." Winry says, "we should get that arm fixed, alright? I'll charge you the normal fee."

"Alright, then," Edward says and lies on his belly so that Winry can do everything that's necessary. By the time she's done, she looks a bit worried.

"What happened?" She asks.

Edward sits up and frowns, with a serious exoression on his face. "It's... None of your concern."

Winry frowns both sad and angry. "Fine. I'll be back tomorrow."

She leaves the room, and I'm left alone again with Edward.

"Ed..." I sit next to him. "Why didn't you tell her?"

He sighs and takes my hand.

"I don't eant anyone to worry about me," he says. "Winry has been looking after me since I can remember. I wouldn't want to make her feel worried, much less, responsible."

I sigh too. "But she wants to help you..."

"I know, I just..." He trails off and looks into nothing. "That's not what I want. I can't make the people I have close to me worry that much."

I kiss his cheek. "Maybe you should try explaining that to her. I'm sure she's going to understand."

He smiles. "Tuck me in, will ya?"

"Seriously?"

"Please?" He pouts so adorably that he actually looks like a younger boy.

I throw myself on him. "SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!"

Edward giggles. "Stop!"

I do stop and look into his eyes. I'm literally sitting on top of him and have my face real close to his. I kiss his lips slowly and softly. He kisses me back and we lose track of time until we both fall asleep.

On the next morning, when a nurse brings Edward his breakfast, Alphonse sits on a chIr in the same room. He's acting really different, though. He's quiet, and it looks like something is bothering him. Edward brings up the subject of their memories, and apparently, that's just about enough to make Alphonse talk.

"Memories?" Alphonse says. "Are they really? A memory can be created artificially, just as anything else."

"What are you talking about?" Edward says.

"Am I really your brother, or am I just your puppet?" Alphonse stands up. "Remember when you said you were too scared to tell me something? It's about that, isn't it?!"

Edward sighs and gets up. "Fine." He walks away on his own.

"Ed..." I say quietly. What was this all about? When did Alphonse start getting those ideas?

Winry's eyes start ti shed tears and she hits Alphonse hard with a metal tool. "You're such an idiot! Do you know what he was so afraid to tell you? He always feared that you would blame him for what happened to your body!"

Winry hits him several times, only softer. And what she just said, also made me come to tears as well.

"Now go over and apologize to him!" Winry yells.

"Yeah, I- I will!" Alphonse runs off.

We give them some time, but after some minutes, Winry and I decide to go see if they're alright. We look for them all around the building and end up going to the roof as our last option and there they are. Edward and Alphonse are both lying on the ground, head to head. They're talking and sneaking in some laughs, in other words, they've made up. I stare at them and feel much better that they're not fighting anymore.

"You're really lucky," Winry says.

"Huh?" I look at her.

"Ed's never going to leave you behind," she says. "You're really lucky to have someone like him." She looks at me with her big blue eyes and she grins at me. "I'm glad we'll be able to see each other more often!"

"Me too!" I smile back. We fall silent for a few minutes, until I speak up again. "Winry..."

She looks at me. "Yeah?"

"You've done so much for those two," I say. I look into her eyes. "Thank you."

She grins happier than I've ever seen her and she hugs me tightly. She's taller than I am, so she can actually manage to spin me around.

"Whwnever you need my help, I'll be there!" She says.

"So will we, Winry," I say. "Anytime."
