Steven's POV:

We all eventually reached the hostpital and I was nervous. Connie's mother got out of the car first, then Connie and I. I followed close behind her, anxious to see my father.

We all walked inside the hostpital, it smelled of hand sanitizer and burnt my nose. I walked up to the woman at the desk. "I am here to see Greg Universe." I said and she looked up at me. "I'm sorry, but you cannot see him, he is under intensive care." The nurse said. I looked at her nametag. Her name was Abby. I turned around and saw Connie's mom approach us with an unhappy look on her face. She walked up to the nurse and looked at her directly in the eyes and pointed at her. "Listen lady, he." She pointed at me and took a deep breath. "He needs to see his father and I am damn well going to make that will happen. Now shut up and let us in, otherwise you will be a patient in this hospital. You got that?" I was in shock of what she had said. I have never heard Connie's mother talk like that. I looked back at Connie, who had the same look om her face as I did. I smirked at her. The nurse gulped. "Go in." She said with fear in her voice. "Wise choice." Connie's mother said. "Connie and I will wait out here, come out when your ready." She placed a hand on my shoulder. "He will be fine." I smiled at her and she smiled at me back. I wonder why she was acting so nice to me all of a sudden. Did something happen to her father? Or did she feel sorry for me? I pushed my thoughts aside. I looked at the chart at the beginning of the hallway on the left. My finger scaned the page as I looked for my father's name. "Room 34 B." I said to myself.

I walked down the hallway in search of my father a
Pnd a little girl walked up to me. "Can you help me find daddy?" She tugged on my shirt. I nodded my head and she grabbed my hand. I decided it would be best if I brought her up to the counter where the nurse named Abby sat. "This little girl needs help finding her dad." I said and the nurse averted her gaze away from me and I knew what it meant. Her father was dead. "Where is her mom?" I said in a firm voice. "Right over there." The nurse leaned in and whispered in my ear. "She doesn't know yet." I nodded my head and looked to where the mother was at. She was sitting in a chair reading a book. I walked up to her and the girl saw her mother and ran up to her. "Mommy!" The mother looked up and smiled at the girl and opened her arms. "Are you alright? How is daddy?" She asked the girl and I noticed the mother had tears streaming down her face. "I'm fine, I have a couple of boo boos. Daddy is hurt. We should go see him." She said. I felt bad and my heart hurt. The mother walked up to me and hugged me. "Thank you. They both were in a wreck and I didn't know what to do." She said through sobs. I hugged her back. "Your welcome." I said. We departed from the hug and she walked up to the nurse. "How is he?" She asked the nurse. I didn't want to listen so I tuned out the next part, or at least I tried. I looked over at the woman and she fell to her knees. "Why?!" She was on the floor and I felt tears streaming down my face. I was crying. I walked up to the lady and gave her my hand. "I want you to meet someone. Come on." I said and she got up with shaky legs. She nodded her head. I saw tissues at the counter and grabbed the whole box and handed her a tissue. "Thank you." She said. I smiled at her and she attempted a smile back.

We both walked down the hallway so I could go see my father. We both walked into the room and I started to shake. "Dad?" I asked. "Hey Steven." He sounded weak. I looked over at him and he was hooked up to machines. I walked over to him. "Come on." I said to the woman and the child and they came in. "This is Greg, my father." The mother waved at him, and the little girl ran up to him and hugged him. My father layed there for a second, but hugged her back. I smiled at this. I saw the mother was too. They both departed form the hug and my father motioned for me to come torwards him. I walked up to him and he grabbed my hand and he hugged me. "I love you Steven." He said and I started to cry. "I love you too." We both departed from the hug and I felt him go limp and a beep came after that. The straight beep, the beep you here when someone has died. "Dad? Dad?!" I began to shake him and he wouldn't move. Tears stung my eyes and my vision went blurry." A man came in and shoved me out of the way. "We need help, stat!" He yelled and a few more people came in and one of them told me to go back im the lobby. I nodded my head and did as she told me.

The woman and the girl walked behind me without saying a word. I eventually walked up to Connie and her mother in dead silence. I felt an arm go around me. "You are always a part of our family." It was Connie's mom. She was hugging me. I fell into her arms and cried. Something I never did, especially around other people. "Shhh." She began to stroke my hair. "Why are you being so nice to me?" I questioned her and she smiled down at me. "I was just like you. Fighting. I was pretty good with knives, but my mother banded me from seeing this boy. I loved him, so I snuck out behind her back to see him. That boy is now my husband, my father also died and I was young. It was tough on me, but I made it through, with the help of my husband. I believe Connie can help you just like he did." My mouth was open. I had no idea. The stern mother, just like me. I smiled at her.

My smile faded when a nurse came towards us and shook her head. I sobbed some more and eventually fell asleep, through all the tears and the pain, I needed some sleep. My mother is dead, and so is my father.
