Chapter 22: Sad Times

Aphmau's POV

It's been about a week since Alex's death. Garroth has been really depressed about. He also told me what happened with Laurence. I haven't seen him since. I figured he went back to Meteli. I felt bad for Garroth. He didn't even agree to help set up her funeral, which was today. We finished a few minutes ago and I'm heading to my house to get ready.

I put on a dark blue dress with ruffles at the top. I put on black flats along with a black flower crown. Then I out on a pearl necklace.

It was time for the funeral and I walked to the docks where it was being held. Everyone was sitting down. I saw Alex in the casket. She looked so beautiful. She wore a silk black dress with white sparkles. Her hair was white and was up in a bun with a black flower. She looked so peaceful laying there. She had her katanas in a cross with her arms holding them on her chest. I looked back and saw everyone waiting for me. I faced everyone.

---I don't know anything about funerals so please bare with me here---

"Hello everybody. I know everyone is upset about this whole incident, especially since one of our own was responsible for this. Alex was a very nice girl. She was also very strong. I really loved her as a friend and it hurts me to see that we can no longer cherish our time with her." I started to cry. Garroth stood up and I thought that he wanted to say some words about it. We switched places an I sat down. He was wearing a black tux without his helm, surprisingly. He started to talk.

"It is true that Alex was a strong girl. She was a strong and noble guard. And even though he might have gotten herself into a lot of trouble, she still kept her head high. She was a sister betrayed by her brother, when her other brother was too late to save her." I saw Garroth stare at a something. I looked behind me and saw Laurence sitting in a tree watching the funeral. I looked at Garroth and mouthed the words 'leave him alone!'. He nodded and before he could start we saw a bright flash of light. "I'm sorry if I have startled you." Her voice was angelic. "I know Alex was a good girl, and my family. That is why I came here today."

Lady Irene?! Why is she here?

She turned around and a white glow came from Alex's stab wound.

*Cough! Cough! Cough!*

"ALEX!" I screamed. She shot up from the casket breathing heavily. Garroth turned around in shock. "ALEX!". He ran towards her for a hug. She swiftly jumped out. "Who are you people! Where am I!" She cried. I knew that if I told her the truth then she would freak out even more. I walked towards her slowly. "Listen. You may not remember us but were your friends. You just got out of the hospital with amnesia." I didn't want to lie, but I had to. I looked over at lady Irene with tears in my eyes.  "I'm sorry but she was dead. You have to help her get her memory back. But she'll also have to do it on her own. Remember that she is a descendant of mine. Keep her safe. I don't want to go to desperate measures." And with that she left. I heard a thump and saw Laurence running towards us. Garroth turned around and grabbed one of Alex's blades from her hands. "Get away! I told you to leave, and you will. Because I don't want to do something that I'll regret later." Garroth looked like he was going to blow up in rage. Laurence looked like he was going to cry. "Please Garroth! I didn't even want to do it! I love her." He said. "Get out." Laurence walked away with his head down. I looked back and saw Alex with a terrified face. "W-who was that?" "He was the man that put you in the hospital." Garroth said sternly. She started to cry and I decided to take her home. I talked to the villagers and they were so happy that she was alive.

But I still wonder, what would Zane want with Alex? Why would he kill his own sister. I laid in bed and just came up with theory's that were most likely not true.

??? POV

???- Do you have the soul?

???- Yes my lord.

???- Great. Now open the portal.

???- Yes my lord.

I tried to open the portal, but it didn't work!

???- W-WHAT! I SWEAR I GOT THE CORRECT SOUL!

???- Was it Alex's!

???- Yes my lord.

???- let's see then.

He grabbed a glass ball and swirled it around. I saw Aphmau, taking Alex home!

???- ALEX IS ALIVE!

???- Lord I promise you that I killed her!

???- Well, you didn't! Go now and get the job done, before I do it myself, Zane!

???- Yes my lord.

And with that I left.

???- Look over Zane. He might screw up again. Go now Sasha.

???- Yes my lord.

I heard a feminine voice behind me.

Does he not trust me to do things myself?
