Chapter 20: Note

Alex's POV

I woke up the next morning feeling a strong dark presence. I looked over at the docks, but nothing was there. I then quickly got dressed and headed towards the guard tower. I climbed up the ladder and my cape got caught beneath my feet and I slipped and I was too slow to react when I felt arms come around my waist and legs.

"LAURENCE! Oh my Irene, thank you so much. I would've been a goner there. " I yelled. "No problem! Just remember that I will catch you when you fall." He said winking at me. I climbed up the ladder again, carefully this time. I looked out into the telescope and saw... Nothing. I sensed a dark presence around here how could there be nothing? Garroth looked at me worriedly. "Is anything bothering you Alex?" He asked. "Oh. It's nothing I just came up to look for something. I didn't find it." "Do you need help?" He asked, again. "No it's fine." "Ok then." I nodded as I left the tower. I needed to find out where this feeling is coming from. I searched the perimeter and the forest but I found nothing. I then decided to go back home and forget all about it. I had the day off anyways. I took off my cloths and put on a short, tight, black dress with silver swirls and a very long black cape with an attached hood. I put on my mask, boots, and weapons and left to stroll around the village.

I opened my door to see a note attached.

Meet me in the forest at midnight. You'll see a trail of pedals for you to follow. I have something special planned. Come alone with no guards or weapons. Just you and me. I hope I can meet you there my love.

It didn't say who it was from but I assume it's from Laurence planning a secret date or something like that. I went back inside and did my make up. I did a shadowy look with my eyes and put on red lipstick. I put on a white flower crown and I put away my weapons. I read a book and practiced my magics before it was time.

---(Time Skip to midnight)---

I looked up to see the clock and it was almost midnight. I set out to leave. I quietly closed the door and ran to the outside of town.

Garroth's POV

I  working the night shift when I herd the clapping of a heal. I looked around and saw Alex dressed up sneaking out, without her mask, or weapons.

I didn't want to cause a commotion so I decided to follow her.

Alex's POV

I was searching the outskirts of town when I saw some white flower petals on the floor, leading to an opening. It was pitch black and the petals where the perfect color for a night like this.  I came up to the opening when I saw a man with brown hair and green eyes standing in the middle. "Hello my love." He said as he came closer to me. "Laurence is that you?" I asked chuckling. "Who else would it be?" He wrapped his hands around my waist. His smile quickly turned into a frown. Tears forming in his eyes. "What's wrong?" I asked. "If anything happens just remember that I love you and I always will. I'm sorry." He shed a tear. Before I could say anything else I felt the worst pain I could possibly imagine. I looked down to see the tip of sword go through and out of my chest. A tear rolled down my face. "How c-could you." All I heard was a clash of swords, but Laurence was still holding me, sobbing. I fell in his arms and blacked out.
