Mykala POV

Three months.

That was how long it had been since Sherlock Holmes walked back into my life.

Three months since I had discovered the impossible.

Three months since I learned that the man I had buried was alive.

And three months since I had to make the hardest decision of my life.

Not whether I loved him.

That had never been the question.

The question was whether loving him was enough.

Because love had nearly killed me once.

And I had two little lives depending on me now.

The first week was the hardest.

Sherlock didn't push.

That was what surprised me most.

The old Sherlock Holmes would have arrived at my flat uninvited, demanded answers, analysed every detail and somehow made the entire situation about solving a mystery.

Instead...

He waited.

He texted.

Occasionally.

Usually at ridiculous times.

Your heating is making an unusual noise. It is likely the boiler. Not an intruder. Do not panic.

I stared at the message for five minutes before replying.

Sherlock. It is 3am. Why are you awake?

His response came instantly.

I am Sherlock Holmes.

I rolled my eyes.

Some things never changed.

I had taken them to the park.

Joseph was running around with a football while Boo sat on the bench beside me, reading a book far too advanced for her age.

Sherlock appeared beside the path.

Not dramatically.

Not like he used to.

He simply stood there.

Waiting.

"You followed me."

"No."

I raised an eyebrow.

"I observed your location based on the photograph you sent John."

"That's following me."

"It's different."

"It really isn't."

A tiny smile appeared.

There he was.

The Sherlock I remembered.

Then Boo looked up.

"Hello."

Sherlock froze.

He looked down at her.

"Hello."

She studied him.

"You have funny hair."

I covered my mouth to hide my laugh.

Sherlock looked genuinely offended.
