I ask Cheryl, /Did you hear that?/

/Yeah, can you find him?/

I slow down, reviewing the road and surrounding buildings.

/Use your powers, Peanut./

Through a dense medley of gibberish, I hear the slimy intonations again.

/Alright, little buddy, time to say 'hello' to papa... /

The horrendous man's face creeps into my field of vision, and my focus is drawn to the vehicle that passed us. The driver parks his automobile clumsily with haste that makes its tires screech, a long distance down the boulevard from us, but merely a few footsteps in front of the small boy I saw earlier.

I instinctively quicken my pace, marching towards the both of them.

"What are you..?!" Cheryl begins inquiring, half-derisive.

/Tanza?!/

The heels of her boots are thudding rapidly behind me, but my attention is riveted to the awful man who has come out of his car and is advancing in the child's direction. I start jogging, my thoughts whirling without reason and nearly smothering the vigilante's.

/Wait! What do you think you're doing?!/

/That child is about to get kidnapped!/

My heart is pounding as I almost slip in a puddle of frozen melted snow, forcing me to slow down. The abductor grabs the boy by the upper arm, prompting him to shout in panic. The child kicks him in the knee, freeing himself for a scarce instant. Hope flutters at the bottom of my chest. However, the man violently hooks an arm around the youth's neck.

A handful of passersby hurry to leave the area of the street, gawking at the scene before disregarding the boy's frightened yelps. I grit my teeth, exhaling with a tremor of anger.

The reprehensible man is struggling to yank the kid into a forced embrace as the young boy slaps his second arm away. C'mon, keep fighting... Just a little more..! The man still rapidly secures his arms' position, wrapped around the child's torso and smaller arms.

Running head first into the situation would be insanity, especially considering that I would need to cross the busy thoroughfare to do it. Vehicles are zooming up and down the asphalt to my right. And I'm sill standing too far...

/We have to do something,/ I affirm.

The man tugs the kid closer to his van, loosening his grip to reach for the opened back doors. The metallic panels are wavering and squeaking in the freezing wind.

I flip around to look at my companion, desperately hoping that she will not argue, that she has a... Plan... I recognize the glint in her kryptonite colored eyes, but a resonant banging sound compels me to turn back towards the abduction before I can ask what she has got in mind. The loud reverberating sound was the doors of the minivan slamming shut. The unexpected event has shocked the pervert enough that the boy is wriggling out of his grasp.

The kidnapper hesitantly drags his feet to reach him, but the child is running down the sidewalk, therefore the adult stumbles back towards the front of his truck. Relief does not even have time to form in my chest. The wretched individual has barely taken two steps that a roaring vehicle skids across the road and pummels nose first into him. The metallic shell punches through the man's body and indents his van, smearing his blood into the recession.

The automobile backs up, its tires screeching and turning unsteadily on their swivels. A pair of cars collide face first to avoid it, beginning a chaotic symphony of honking and asynchronous impacts between vehicles, benches, fire hydrants and unfortunate pedestrians. I flinch as the first car rams into the wounded miscreant's ribcage a second time, and the crunching of his bones resonates alongside the creaking of metal against metal. If he was not dead already, that'll do it.
