It had been six months since the downfall of Kate, Peter and the Berserkers.

Derek was trying to learn more about what he can do now that he can turn into a full wolf. He was helping Chris Argent and the Calaveras try to hunt down Kate.

Braedan was trying to find the Desert Wolf.

I had spent six months away from Beacon Hills and Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Kira and Malia.

I had been with Cora down in South America for a little while.

But now I was going back.

It was storming by the time I pulled up to the loft building, getting out into the rain, on the phone. "I'll be fine on my own, Derek. I have been for a while." I saw Scott standing outside the loft, underneath an alcove in the rain, smiling a small smile. "Better than okay."

I hung up, putting my phone away into my car, walking toward Scott.

Scott stepped out of the alcove into the rain. "Did you have fun in South America?"

"Not really," I answered.

"Did you get captured and tortured again?" Scott asked.

I chuckled. "No. Obviously not."

Scott smiled. "Good."

Scott put a hand on either of my cheeks, pulling me into a kiss. We continued to kiss in the rain.

Scott and I were sitting inside the loft in the dark, looking out of the wall of windows to watch the storm, on the floor, leaning against the wall.

Scott his arm around my shoulders.

"Senior Scribe, huh?" I asked. "What is that, vandalism?"

Scott chuckled. "No. No, it's... it's supposed to be a secret."

"You have to be there by midnight, right?" I asked.

"Yeah," Scott answered. "I still got a few hours. I'll make it."

I smiled a small smile.

The clouds outside moved just enough to show the full moon behind them.

Scott looked at the full moon thoughtfully.

"You okay?" I asked. "You're starting to feel it?"

"No," Scott answered. "Just thinking."

"About what?" I asked.

"Senior year," Scott answered. "It's more like something Deaton told me once. You ever hear of regression to the mean?"

"Yeah," I answered. "Yeah, it's a way of saying that life can't ever be all bad or all good. You know, eventually things have to come back to the middle."

"So, I've been thinking about the last few months," Scott told me. "Things have been good. But not amazing. And I don't know about you, but no one's tried to kill me in six months, either." I smiled, looking down, shaking my head. "We've been pretty much in the middle for a while. Which means, at some point, the scale has to tip one way or the other. Things are gonna get really good again..."

"Or really bad," I finished.

Scott sighed, nodding. "Yeah. But you're here. You're back, and for the first time in a long time, you left and you came back without being captured and tortured again. That's a miracle in itself." I smiled, pushing Scott lightly in the chest. Scott laughed. "I just kinda want to take that in as a good sign."

Scott looked at me, smiling.

"What are you smiling at?" I asked.

"You," Scott answered.

I looked at Scott, smiling, kissing him.

Lightning flashed from the sky outside, allowing light through the walls of windows.

The loft alarm started to blare.

Scott and I pulled away, standing, turning around to see the door being pulled open.

A large creature covered in black goo and shoot with talon-like claws growled, running inside toward us.

The large creature slashed into Scott, making him fall to the ground.

I slashed into the creature, making him turn away. The creature spun around, slashing into me, pushing me away.

The creature walked toward Scott. "True Alpha? Where's your power, Scott?"

Scott spun to face the creature, taking a knee to the floor, shifted. "Who are you?"

"A devoted fan," the creature told him. "Show me the man who took down Deucalion and broke the Argents. I came for that Alpha. Come on!" Scott growled, sliding closer, slashing into the creature's leg, spinning into a standing position, slashing into his chest, spinning around in the opposite direction, kicking him in the face, making him fall. The creature stood, slashing toward Scott. Scott ducked, trying to kick him. The creature caught his leg, gripping his throat, growling, pushing him against the wall, letting him fall to the floor. "And I didn't come just to claim your status."

I attacked the creature from behind, slashing into his back. The creature slashed toward me. I jumped onto the wall to make him miss, turning to kick the creature in the stomach, slashing the creature in the face. I tried to punch him. The creature caught my arm. I slashed into his arm to make him let go, slashing into his stomach, making him back away, growling, eyes glowing blue. I kneed him in the stomach, trying to punch him. The creature caught my arm, gripping my throat, raising me off the floor, turning around, pushing me into the wall on the other side of the room, making me fall to the floor.

Scott stood, growling. The creature slashed toward Scott. Scott ducked, sliding past him on the floor, turning to face the creature, standing. The creature slashed toward him. Scott ducked. The creature slashed again. Scott ducked, standing. The creature gripped Scott's throat, keeping him away at arms' length, using his glowing blue talons to stab Scott in the stomach, making him groan in pain, growling.

The red glow faded from Scott's eyes. He fell to his knees.

Stiles, Malia, Kira and Liam ran inside through the open front door, stopping on the steps in shock.

Liam growled.

I stood.

Kira took off her belt, snapping it out to create a sword.

Scott grabbed the creature's wrist, pulling his glowing talons out of his stomach, letting his eyes glow red. He stood, breaking the creature's wrist, making him roar in pain and fall to his knees. He pulled the talons out of his stomach, tossing them to the floor. "I don't know who you are or what you thought you were going to do, but I'll give you a choice. You can stay and I'll break something else. Or you can run."

The creature looked at Stiles, Malia, Kira, Liam and me.

I nodded. "I'd run."

The creature stood, running past Stiles, Malia, Kira and Liam, out, leaving.

Scott let himself return human.

Scott and I walked toward Stiles, Malia, Kira and Liam.

"You guys okay?" Kira asked.

I nodded.

Stiles looked at Scott. "There's something you should know about Theo Raeken."

"Theo?" I repeated.

"A friend of ours from fourth grade," Stiles answered. "Moved away and we never thought we would see him again." He looked at Scott. "He's back now. He's a werewolf, and he's back in Beacon Hills. Because he wants to be part of this pack."

Scott and I didn't know what to make of that.
