Ten

Indigo's POV

My mind is blank. I'm just sitting staring at the rug beneath my feet, wiggling my toes. I've gone through so much. At this point my body is reacting the only way it knows how to, blocking out emotion and trying to just move on.

I have no idea where Connor is taking me but at this point I don't really care.

He's driving a gorgeous white Jeep and I expected nothing less, it suits him. I'm sitting in the passenger seat gazing out the window at the rows of trees that pass by.

The car is silent, no radio, just the hum of the engine and our breathing. It is quite cold out so he has the heater on.

Through the trees I can see a figure moving the same direction we are. It looks like a huge wolf. I blink repeatedly to make sure I'm seeing this right. It's not just one wolf but three. Their enormous!

Just as I spot them Connor seems to be on high alert. I hear him silently mumbling to himself. I turn my eyes away from the window and onto him.

"Do you see those things?! There huge! And their so fast'" I say to him.

Just as the words leave my lips the wolves jump out from the trees and on to the road in front of us. All three barring their teeth at us.
"F**k" Connor shouts and he slams on the breaks.

He manages to not hit them. The wolves don't even flinch and are barring their teeth our way in an attack stance.

Connor unbuckled his seat belt and turned to face me.

"When I leave this car, you have to promise me you won't follow me out. Stay here. Okay?"

I look at him confused.

Quite frankly, I don't even want to go out. I grab onto his arm and tell him to stay.

"We can just stay in the car until they get tired of us and leave."

He shuts his eyes and takes a deep breath.

"The wolves around here are different." He says with a pained look.

I hear it before I see it. One of the three wolves jumps with its two front paws onto the hood of the car with a monstrous roar.

"Stay here" He pleases to me before he hops out of the car. In a flash, I see one of the other wolves jump towards him.

I let out a scream as it teeth aim for his neck. The wolf never makes it there because he grabs it by the neck and slams it into the asphalt. The wolf gets up onto its feet right after but with weak footing.

I am stunned at his strength. I've never seen someone so strong in my life. It's just as terrifying just as it is impressive.

Two wolves are circling him. My heart is racing. I have no idea how he is going to make his way out of this. If only he just stayed in the car!

The wolf on the hood of the car is starting to scratch at my door. I'm freaking out and I'm close to tears.

I unbuckle my seat belt and climb into the drivers seat to my left. The wolf decides to be fully on the hood now and is scratching at the glass totally distorting it.

Behind the wolf I can see Connor surrounded by the other two wolves. I'm more scared for him than for myself. If he dies, his company will suffer and his big family. He has too much to loose. I on the other hand have nothing to lose.

My heart is about to pound right out of my chest. I clutch onto the prndl and take the car out of park.

Connor takes one look my way. I see the mixed emotions in his eyes. He turns back to the two wolves circling him and and lets out the most animalistic growl I've ever heard. From my angle I can see his jaw shifting in to one that of an animal. His canines now prominent. I scream bloody murder. How is this all happening.

The next thing I know his body is hunched over and he full on takes the form of one of those wolves, but he's much larger.

I can hardly breathe, he just turned into one of those things !!

I have no time to react as I step on the gas and the wolf on the hood goes flying off. He gets up off the road and is having a hard time. Before I know it all three wolves are limp and Connor the wolf is standing strong gazing my way. I don't know what to do, say or think.

Connor the wolf starts towards the car. I know I should be scared. I should drive away. But somehow all I can think of is that I want to get out of the car and pet him. Even in this strange wolf form he's in.

I open the car door and am reminded that is it now dusk. The sun is setting and it has been the longest day of my life. When Connor reaches me he is very hesitant and is taking slow steps. I just stare at him calmly showing him I'm not afraid.

In a flash he turned back into a human. Stark naked, he pulls me in for a hug.

"I'm glad your okay."
