A/n: In the media of every chapter I'll put a picture of fetus Luke because 1) that's how he looks in the story (but he's 19 in the story) 2) he's adorable at that stage.
.....

I don't know how long or far I ran but I had no clue where I was or how to get back. The fact that I had given Ashton my phone when I went onstage wasn't helping. I sighed and sat against the side of a building.

I began strumming the tune of a song I'd been working on and humming along. I didn't think anyone was listening though.

"You're really good." A voice said out of nowhere. I jumped a bit and looked up to see a girl with bright blue hair.

"Oh, um, thanks." I smiled.

"I'm Kayla." She said as she sat next to me.

"Luke."

"Well, Luke, what are you doing sat here behind a building?"

So I told her the story and she intently listened. Her hazel eyes showing almost no emotion at all as she nodded in response to what I was saying.

"Well, that was stupid." She deadpanned.

"Gee thanks." I muttered.

"No, what I'm meaning is, you're a talented guy Luke and I've only just met you and I already like you, which is saying a lot since I hate basically everybody." She explained.

"Well thanks. That's real-" I was cut off by a voice I never wanted to hear again.

"There you are, Kay! I've been looking everywhere for you, babe! Why'd you run off?"

Calum fucking Hood in the flesh.

"I wanted to run, duh. But I'm happy I did, if I didn't I wouldn't have met, Lukey here. He's amazing on guitar. Show him, Lukey." Kayla chirped.

"Luke Hemmings, never thought I'd see you again." Calum said.

"Same goes for you, Hood." I spat.

"So what, still making music? How's that going?" He snickered.

"Fine thank you. I actually should be going, I have a festival to perform at. Thanks, Kayla, see you around." I fake smiled.

I stood up before hurrying off in the direction I came from. Eventually, I made it back to the festival to see Ashton and Michael pacing back and forth.

"What's up guys?" I asked.

"There you are! C'mon, get your ass up there and perform." Ashton sighed in relief.

I giggled before rushing onstage.

"Hi everyone, I'm Luke and before I start I'd like to apologise for earlier. I was nervous but I'm ready now." I smiled.

As I began the first few chords I started to get nervous again. But by the time I was finished the whole crowd was on their feet. My face reddened and I smiled shyly. Maybe Calum should piss me off more often.
