CHAPTER SEVEN
Both of them looked at each other and that back at the so called 'Mi'. Victoria gave another one of her amazing smiles, but even a blind person could tell it was forced.
Victoria presented a confused laugh, "What's that supposed to stand for?"
The man raised an amused brow and chuckled, "Sweetie, they're called street names for a reason."
Brandon's face drained of all colour at the recognition of 'street names'. Did this mean he had been standing in front of a gang member?
Memories of Anastasia's death came flooding back into his mind, consuming his thoughts. Brandon took another step back, preparing himself to run.
"Brandon, was it?"
He donated a small nod, his Adams apple bobbing up and down at the front of his neck.
"Don't think I'll pull a gun and squeeze it..."
Brandon still wasn't convinced, he didn't think he would ever trust this guy, they had just met.
"There's a little get together going down at my mate's place, you two up for attending?"
Brandon opened his mouth to say an excuse, but Victoria cut him off, "Sure, lead the way..."
The man flashed his shark-like teeth at the two and started down the path, taking long strides and walking with as much confidence as a man could. Victoria followed suit, and soon Brandon joined.
They walked past many buildings built by bricks and had graffiti surfacing on them. Victoria looked around, inspecting all the different street arts while Brandon focused on the man in front of them.
The fabric of Mi's shirt was thin, giving him an opportunity to notice the intricate tattoo's that lay across is back.
"You got inked?"
Mi gave him a shoulder glance, his brow raised. What made him ask that? Mi thought. "Yeah, first one I got, was drunk as f*ck and 18."
Brandon chuckled and shook his head at his immaturity. There's a woman right there, and you're cussing? Brandon found himself continuing the conversation, "What's it mean?"
Mi gave him another look.
The distant thump of music made Mi turn to them and grin.
They were ages away, was he excited now? Thought Brandon. Mi held a hand out to them, signalling to stop, so they did.
"Neither of you are cops, right?"
Both of them shook their heads in unison. Mi's lips formed a small smile and he reached up to bang on a silver door that stood a foot over his height. Three loud bangs echoed down the dark and messy alleyway.
An embedded slit opened and two blue eyes flashed in the inch thick line.
So stereotypical. Brandon thought, What now? Password?
Mi dug in his back pocket of the dark jeans he was wearing and pulled out a wad of cash, "How much is it tonight, Danny?"
"400."
Mi started counting through notes, eventually stuffing them through the door's slit. The guy gave a glare and opened the door. Victoria walked in, then Mi acting surprised and shocked at her braveness and then Brandon cowering behind.
Mi wrapped his arm around him, trying to give him a sense of comfort but the action only made him a second closer to sh*tting himself. "Dude, relax, it's only a club."
That didn't help.
Another door was pushed to the side and the three of them walked down some stairs. Victoria groaned and Brandon smiled a knowing laugh. Mi looked between the two with a confused look before rolling his eyes and continuing a jog down the stairs.
