"Leaving you ain't easy now but loving you is the hardest part"
(Amelia's POV)

The abandoned lighthouse at the docks was the one place where Jonathan and I could just escape, leaving all of our issues behind. However it was a complete surprise when we had encountered each other there one night, completely out of nowhere. I hadn't met him yet at that point, but I had heard rumors of Dr. Jonathan Crane and his fear toxin. It was actually a surprise when this tall lanky man walked into the lighthouse, mumbling about how she couldn't have just left without any effects, he gave her a high dose, how she probably called the cops on him. Later on I found out that he was referring to Lexi, his ex-girlfriend/assistant, who had discovered his secret and was subsequently given fear toxin. As expected, it didn't end well since she had run away and called the cops on him. It's slightly ironic that I was at the lighthouse because of my ex, Damien, and his inability to keep it in his pants especially around my roommate. Anyways, I was taken aback by how kind Jonathan was being even though I was scared of him. It's something we've kept to ourselves, since the lighthouse was kind of ours. It was the first and only time we had been there together, at least until now.

I lean against the outside railing, wondering why in the hell I couldn't get into the lighthouse. Usually the door would be broken down, or at the very least be slightly ajar. Instead the door was completely shut, with a huge Keep Out sign on it. I look around for something to bust it open since I doubt Jonathan wants to meet outside in the freezing cold. I honestly don't know why I accepted his invitation to meet him here, especially when Dent was technically right. Jonathan wouldn't have told me that he slept with Ivy, especially when he knows it would have just made things worse. On that same thread, it wasn't like me sleeping with Edward changed everything. If anything, it made me feel even worse about the whole situation. I should be happy, right? Then why am I still questioning everything?

I searched around for something to pry the door open and find a broken metal railing with a sharpened edge. I put the sharpen edge on the right side and push, to no success. I stick the railing in even harder and push again, getting no change. When did the door become stronger? I attempt to pry it open again when it opens out of nowhere and Jonathan's head sticks out of the doorway.

"Why are you prying my door open, Amy?"Jonathan asks with a blank expression. I slowly drop the metal railing and look at him guiltily. He raises an eyebrow before sighing, opening the door wider for me to see him in his Navy blue suit, his hair in a mess and holding a large book in his hand.

"Your door? What, do you own the lighthouse now?"I ask sarcastically while he just looks in the other direction, embarrassed.
"You brought the lighthouse, didn't you?"

"I needed another hideout after I moved out of Edward's place. It was the only place I actually liked. I probably should have said something beforehand. I use it for when I don't want to go to my apartment or I need to work quietly."Jonathan says as I walk in, surprised at how warm it was inside. Somehow Jonathan has transformed the broken down lighthouse into a modest home with furniture. The walls had transformed from a peeling down depressing shade of blue into a light brown, resembling the burlap mask that Jonathan enjoyed wearing. The floor was pure black metal, which he hadn't changed for some reason. There was a small kitchen and living room where a small couch and coffee table resided, right next to two large bookshelves that were crammed with books. There was a large window that overlooked the docks, and a small deck that was closed because of the snowfall. I sit at the windowsill, smiling internally at how beautiful it was.

"I've never told you about my childhood, have I?"Jonathan says suddenly, sitting down next to me near the deck that overlooked the water. I raised an eyebrow before replying, wondering what he was up to.
