Ch.14: Trapped with Fears

Opening my eyes, I realize I am laying on the ground in the middle of nowhere. I sit up and look around.

"I'm not in Paris anymore. Where...?"

Standing up, I scan my entire surroundings, spinning in a full circle. There's nobody here at all...

"Hello? Theo? Dianthe? Jack? Guys?" I call, taking a few steps forward.

Nothing responds. Not even an echo of my own voice. Suddenly, I feel something crawling on me. A spider crawls up my arm and I scream, pushing it off me and shivering in fear. I try to breathe normally but... Slowly, I turn around and see a giant spider about fifty feet tall. Oh hell no... I scream at the top of my lungs and run as fast as I can in the opposite direction of the spider. I run until I look back and trip over my own feet. I lay on my back, unconscious for a second. When you vision clears, I come face to face with spider only inches away from my mine. My eyes widen and I hold my breath. It bares its teeth angrily at me and I scream, squeezing my eyes shut. Nothing happens.

When I open my eyes again, I blink to see the spider is gone. The wind picks up and I sit up from the cold cement. Getting onto my feet, I walk over to the only door. Unfortunately, it is locked. Wait... If there's wind... I must be.... I look over the edge of the building I'm apparently on and see how high I am. Oh gods... I have to be at least a thousand feet in the air. Without thinking, I walk backwards away from the edge in fear.

"I think I'm going to be sick." I gag then hear someone laugh evilly.

Before I can see who it is, they push me off the building. I scream so loud that I think the people inside- if there is any- can hear my terror. Falling twice in one day? That's lovely.

"You can't wake till you've come face to face with every single one of your deepest and darkest fears." Asteria's voice rings through the air, "Have fun dying, sea spawn!"

Above me, Asteria falls with me through the air, making my eyes enlarge. She laughs then lunges towards me, but before she reaches me, I land on my stomach in some grass. Coughing, I try to sit up but almost fall again from the pain shooting through my body. A hand sticks out for me to grab and I see my friends. All of them. Jack, Rose, Dianthe, Kharis, Theo, Lauren, Will, Sabrina, and Xander, but no Silas. Rose helps me up and I sigh in relief, smiling bright. After hugging Rose right, I run towards everyone happily. I embrace myself into Will's arms first. He hugs me back but I hear a scream, causing me to jump. Immediately I'm met with Sabrina lying on the ground, her eyes open but there's a hole in her chest. She's bleeding a lot.

"Jack! Will! Help her-" I gasp when I turn to the others.

My eyes widen as I see all of my friends on the ground, dead. I shake my head, getting watery eyes.

"No... No. NO!" I scream as I run to each body, trying to feel their pulse.

Nothing. I get to Jack and I can't breathe. I start hyperventilating. No... Not my best friend! Not Jack! I cry into his chest and hug him tightly. I start singing his favorite song softly into his ear. Why is Asteria so cruel?! Seeing Theo's body makes me faint.

Opening my eyes again, I'm back at camp. In the distance, I see Chiron and Silas. I run up to Silas and go to jump on him. He glares at me and pushes me off so I fall onto my butt. My face displays shock at the way he treated me. What the...?

"Stay off me, stranger." He scoffs then walks away.

Stranger? I run around, asking people if they know me and if they don't I ask if they know Ambrosia Delia Minerva. They all say they've never heard of anyone with that name. I grab my head. The room starts to spin. Everybody at camp doesn't like me because I was the new Poseidon child, so I thought they would've...

"I knew I shouldn't have trusted you." I hear a voice say.

I turn around to see Reed. His arms are crossed and he is glaring at me. Great, what did I do now?

"You failed to save my father. I knew you'd fail. Did you really think that you were going to survive that trip? I mean you did have my father's help all your life till he was caught. The gods said it was fate saying you need to prove yourself. I just think it was time for you to die. You do know she only held my father hostage because she needed you? She wanted to absorb your powers and take it for herself. She got what she wanted because you know how long it's been since you died and she took the gods down?"

"Um... no..." I raise an eyebrow.

He chuckles then look back at me.

"You don't, do you? It's been two thousand years, Ambrosia. Not even Apollo or your own father remembers you." He continues.

"What?" my eyes widen.

"Yeah. You're lucky though. Percy, your brother, saved the world after that."

"Wait, how are you alive then?" I ask.

"I did good deeds after you died. I became a god."

"Why do- did you hate me so much?" I ask.

"You came randomly! And you already became the best camper other then Percy. You know, you and Percy are so similar it's scary. You guys came to camp almost the exact same way, according to Chiron."

"Does Chiron remember me at least?"

Reed shakes his head.

"Well, you have to go now. On to the next fear!" Reed smiles.

"Wait!-"

"No time!"

He snaps his fingers and I'm in a barber shop. Wait... That smell... It's guavas. I look to my left and I see a girl putting on guava scented perfume. I'm back at the place where Theo... No... That's when Dianthe barges in and knocks out all of the girls until it was just me standing.

"Grab your bow. Lots of guards and that girl in the beginning is a bad person." She says.

Without consciousness, I do exactly as told because I'm replaying this memory.

"Are the boys alright?" I ask.

"I think so..." Sabrina says.

I stare at her with concern. We round a corner then I aim my bow at the monsters who try to tackle us. Growling comes from behind us and I see a bunch of dogs growling at us. Lovely...

"RUN!" I scream then run towards the door at the very end of the hallway.

I open it for us and as soon as both girls are out, I shut it on the dogs. They bark and scratch at the door to get in but and I decide to continue to run. I stop when I see a boy and a girl kissing. No... It can't be... I hear Dianthe and Sabrina gasp. They confirm my thoughts.

"Theo..." I mumble.

My eyes get watery and I feel someone hug me. I hear Dianthe whisper and the person, probably Sabrina nods. She pulls away and looks at me.

"Hey now... No need to cry... If he did that, he's no good for you, okay?" Sabrina says.

I nod but I still won't accept the fact he did that. Dianthe runs off somewhere but I don't look up.

"Why don't you check outside for monsters, okay? We can deal with Theo for you." Sabrina speaks lowly.

Sighing, I look down and walk to the exit and sit outside. All I can think about was him kissing that girl. I start to bawl and a white light starts getting brighter and brighter.

"Time to wake up, my dear Ambrosia. Time to face me and die!" I hear Asteria's voice then laugh.

I scream then gasp as I wake up for real this time.
