Samuel

Love.

Love, of all things?

Samuel leaned stunned against the wall of his small room, which was still larger than the one on Level 4. The daughter of his employer. Love. Could that go well? The answer was simple:

No.

Lena Goldbird's life was planned out through and through.

And his?

He could be happy to have gotten this job.

A job he should not risk.

For love?

If only his heart were reasonable.

And Lena? How much did she really like him? Was it just a game for her? The girl was still trying to see this boy. Flo. The salesman.

Her insistence on meeting him seemed almost like obsession to him.

Flo

Minnie wanted to come along.

Flo almost cried with laughter. Four people together? Together, to watch how a wolf cat did her business. Now there were only 3. He, Alby, and Number 100, who insisted on his presence.

Silverpaw was used to the litter box and seemed to have a hard time with the possibility of a meadow. She had been born in 'freedom'. Well, a comfortable life had probably spoiled the animal child a little too much.

"Not here either?" Alby giggled as Silverpaw sat down next to a bush for a moment, then meowed pitifully and moved on.

"Not here either!" confirmed Icy.

He was no longer wearing his red mask after Flo had pointed out to him that Alby was intimidated by the mask. The Shadow immediately took off the mask and surprised not only Flo, but also Alby.

It was already late.

The flickering light of a few lanterns lit up the small garden for the staff. Otherwise, there was only the light of the moon and the northern lights, which conjured up eerily beautiful patterns on the starry sky.

These Northern Lights were not the usual, rare Northern Lights, but a phenomenon caused by the toxic air in interaction with other factors.

Flo didn't know the reason exactly.

Actually, he was not interested in the exact explanation either.

The lights were beautiful.

Their world had so little really beautiful to offer. What did he care about the explanation for the spectacle in the sky? Even if the patterns sometimes looked bizarre.

"Oh? There?"

Alby's somewhat worried voice tore him out of his thoughts. Silverpaw had chosen the small statue that stood at the edge of the garden. A statue showing one of the clones, or was it Elrik himself?

The statue was slightly weathered, but well maintained. Someone maintained it.

And Silverpaw now peed on the base of this very old statue.

"Can I be arrested for this?" asked Flo.

"I don't know." Alby shrugged her shoulders. "Is that a political statement?"

"I don't think so." Icy stood close to Flo, so Flo could feel the warmth of the cyborg's body. A warm body. But how human was he?

How did Number 100, Icy, look like? Under his uniform? Under all the clothes?
