Chapter Thirty-Eight - Young Blood, Old Souls
SEASON ONE FINALE PT. 2/2
The previous day...
A large, blue, flaming aura had BURST around Anne, sending pebbles into the air. The human rose from the ground, feeling overpowered. "Give her back..." Anne's voice, now overlapped and sounding demonic, spoke. "Give... her... BACK!" She roared, the ground shattering under her as she disappeared.
The human appeared right in front of the head witch in an instant and landed a devastating blow on her cheek, sending her flying into the gates of the emperor's castle. Launching herself toward the witch, Anne dove and swung a punch, which she had barely been able to avoid.
I'll make you pay! I'll level this whole stupid castle if I have to! was the only thought that ran through Anne's mind as she glared at the shocked-looking witch. Spinning her staff, Lilith shouted as she launched a large barrage of blue blasts toward Anne, but they simply bounced off the human's aura as if they were nothing. Anne walked forward, brushing them off, each step cracking the ground.
The power Anne felt was intoxicating, amplifying her emotions and senses. She disappeared again, landing a kick on Lilith's gut that sent her flying into the distant forest. The gasps of the castle guards and coven scouts could be heard from behind her, but she didn't pay them any mind as she pursued the witch, ready to tear her asunder.
As soon as Anne found Lilith again, she heard the witch scream something while launching blasts toward her, but the blood rushing in the former's ears muffled it while she was effortlessly dodging the attacks. However, before Anne could attempt anything more, a towering, robed figure suddenly swerved in the way and blocked her next fist with a barrier that shattered.
They said something, but Anne didn't pay attention to their words. Wait, since when was she so exhausted? The human suddenly felt out of breath, and felt her power waning. No, she wouldn't—couldn't go down without saving Eda! Why didn't she grab her and fly away?!
"Give Eda BACK!" Anne roared, desperately barraging the figure as her stamina faded slowly. Her attacks grew weaker, and her head pounded. Tendrils shot from the ground below, attempting to restrain her, but she walked through them.
Fine... Then I'll end it now! Anne thought, focusing all the glowing blue energy into her fist. Anne ROARED as she swung her last punch, which summoned a colossal explosion bright enough to blind her briefly. That was the last thing the human saw, as shortly after, she stumbled back, and everything went dark.
Anne's eyes shot open with a gasp, her head pounding. What happened? was her first thought as she tried to take in her surroundings, but it took longer than usual to regain her focus. The last thing she remembered was... Lilith taking away Eda, and... then nothing? Anne's fists clenched at the painful memory, but she forced herself to focus. No, there was something there, but it was... fuzzy.
Looking around, the human took in the familiar sight of the castle, realizing that she was floating in a magic bubble similar to the one Lilith had trapped her in. I... lost? Anne thought, feeling her blood run cold. Where's Eda? Where are the others? Did they— Anne froze as she locked eyes with the bubble next to her, and she felt a mix of relief and dread. Eda's Owl Beast form was suspended inside it.
I've got to get out of here! Anne thought and tried to move, but she felt... numb. She felt so weak, as if the bubble encasing her were sapping her strength away constantly. Great... I guess that's it then, she thought bitterly. Gonna be executed alongside my magic mom. What a way to go. I didn't even get to say goodbye to my Earth family, or King, or... Viney. I hope she's alright...
