Anne was lying face down in front of the couch, scribbling in her notebook and messing with different glyph patterns she could try out. King, meanwhile, was lazily lounging on the couch, eating potato chips while browsing the human's phone, probably watching more cat videos. The human glanced at him, amused at his usual antics.
"Whatchu up to, King?" she asked with a smirk.
"Oh, me? I just found out the Earth is actually flat!" he said proudly, and Anne's smile faltered, but she decided to mess with him a bit.
"Do you think the Demon Realm is flat, then?" she teased. "Is the Titan just sitting on a giant, flat ocean?"
King's eyes widened in shock at the question, not thinking about it himself. Upon seeing his contemplative expression, Anne burst out into giggles. "I'm kidding. The Earth isn't flat. Don't believe everything you hear on the internet."
Her gaze moved to the portal door nearby, and her smile faded. Ever since she learned about her parents' new life on Earth with Vee, she felt as if a weight on her chest had been traded for another. While Anne felt bad that she didn't head back even if she really wanted to, she could still text her parents at any point to let them know how she was doing. Besides, even if she went through the portal door right now, it would only lead to Connecticut.
Deciding to forget about it for the time being, Anne drew a small ice glyph on a piece of paper she had ripped off and tapped it, watching as a small ice spire emerged from it.
Ever since the greater basilisk incident, Anne had constantly wondered just how she saw the ice glyph in the reflective floor. What caused it? Was she going crazy staying in this kooky world for so long? Well, regardless, she wondered if there were many others. What if there are more glyphs, like lightning? she wondered to herself. Ooh! What if there's one to give me super cool anime powers? That'd be sick!
Anne reached into her pocket and pulled out the power glyph, studying it and comparing its design to the glyphs she had learned. Are they similar? Wait, a minute... Her eyes widened as she placed the power glyph on the sheet of paper and then drew an ice glyph before she could think of the consequences.
As soon as she tapped it, both glyphs glowed brightly, and a MASSIVE ice pillar shot out, forcing her to step back to avoid being seriously injured. King yelped as he immediately got out of his cat video daze and scrambled off the couch to avoid the ice as it crashed through the ceiling and roof, sticking high up out of the Owl House.
Silence immediately followed as sweat trickled down Anne's face. "Uh oh..."
"ANNE! What did you do?!" Eda's voice called out from upstairs as the Owl Lady ran down while holding her staff, preparing to face an intruder, but it was just the kids. Seeing the massive ice pillar sticking out through the house, she groaned loudly. "Kid, for Titan's sake..."
"Uh, sorry," Anne apologized, shrinking in on herself a bit. "Just was trying out a new glyph combo. Turns out it worked."
"Hooray for nearly destroying the Owl House," Eda said sarcastically as she drew a spell circle, starting to melt the ice and fix the damage. "For that, you'll be bathing Hooty later. Got it?"
"Okay, that's fair," Anne relented as she put the notebook back into her backpack and slung it over her shoulders. "It's about time for school, anyway." She smiled as she walked over to King to pet his head, which he seemed to enjoy very much as he leaned very heavily. "See you later, Mr. Wiggles. You too, Easy E!"
Eda snorted at her nicknames while King shot the human a weak glare. "I thought we stopped using that name," he whined. Anne snickered as she headed toward the front door, but before she could, it swung open, revealing Hooty.
