Little “White” Lies
I could hear everything that is happening around me. Everything. I wanted to move. Trust me; I wanted to move more than anything. But it felt as if an invisible force was restraining me.
Poke. Poke. Poke.
“ Kat!” I groaned and sat up. I guess it was all a dream. All a bad dream that I should have woken up from a long time ago.
“You know I had such a bad dream.” I covered my eyes and rubbed my temples to ease the increasingly growing pain.
“Love, it wasn’t a dream.”
My eyes snapped open.
“It wasn’t a dream... What are you talking about Soren? Magic isn’t real.” This is the one time I want Kat and Ally to pop up and scream surprise.
I started hiccupping. A usual sign that meant I would start crying. Great.
“I’m sorry Love. Magic is as real as you are. Magic is everywhere. We should get you up and running to see Ms.Rayne.”
I pouted. I shook my head and crossed my arms.
“No.”
“Lucy… Come on.”
“No.” Stubborn, I know.
“I guess I’m just going to get you up the hard way.” He strutted towards me and picked me up from my waist.
I let out a strangled scream. He threw me over his shoulder. I banged with my curled fist on his lower back, swinging my legs all over the place.
“Love, I suggest you top that.” Soren looked over at me and threw me a suggestive smirk.
I realized my hand was on his bum and that he has perfect view of my bottom. I blushed deeply.
“I’m sorry…” I mumbled over at him.
He chuckled at me and switched my position so he could carry me bridal style.
“If you put me down I swear I’ll go with you.” I used my baby voice. It always works. If it doesn’t work with him then I don’t know what else to do or say.
“Fine.” He sighed and put me down. I smiled widely, showing my dimples. He smiled down and me letting his jet black hair fall over his tanned face.
He quickly grabbed my hand. My heart sped up and I felt like my breath was being pulled out slowly. It was as if a small electric current paced between us. I swore I almost saw it.
“So where are we going Soren?”
“To see Ms.Rayne and ask why you didn’t know what the Dragon Clan was. To ask why you thought it was just a gang.”
I just nodded and began wondering myself. Why wasn’t I told that I was this mystical freak of nature? Did she feel like I wasn’t important enough to know about this? Who does she think she is not telling me about my family heritage? Wait. Why didn’t my mother or father tell me about this? Of course, Daddy couldn’t have because of what happened to him, but Ma could have perfectly told us. Maybe it was because she didn’t think we were strong or ready enough. In the letter, it perfectly stated that you had to earn it. Or your parent had to be dead, like mine was.
