Chapter 22

Ashton was both confused and surprised when he found Luke asleep on the bathroom floor. Ashton bent down, lightly shaking the boy and Luke opened his eyes, sitting up and instantly remembering what Calum said.

Michael's gone.

"What are you doing in here?" Ashton asked curiously, moving a bit of Luke's hair out of his face.

Luke felt the tears coming, him abruptly standing up and pushing Ashton out of the room. "I must've sleep walked. But, we've got a plane to catch so I'm gonna take a shower." Luke knew it was stupid to and selfish to lie to him. Calum told Luke that he needed Luke to tell him because he couldn't. Call Calum weak for that, but you wouldn't be able to tell your best friend that his other best friend past away either.

Calum was scared of Ashton's reaction, mostly. When Michael was first admitted, he got so angry he hit a girl. That wasn't right and telling Ashton that his best friend was dead, they had no idea what was going to happen.

"Um, can I shower with you?" Luke's eyes widened, not wanting to say no to his boyfriend but he really wanted to be alone. But then Ashton would know something's up, fuck. This was all fucked up and Luke really needed to tell him somehow. Luke mentally slapped himself, but reluctantly opened the door. Ashton came in, turning on the shower and started undressing, Luke doing the same.

The two got in the shower, Luke facing the wall and crying silently. Ashton didn't notice since they were in the shower and he couldn't see his tears. Luke turned around in the shower, seeing Ashton rinsing the shampoo out of his hair and decided he should tell him now.

"Ash.. there's something you have to know-" Ashton cut the blonde off by moving closer and kissing down his neck. Luke froze, letting out a small whimper and forgot what he was going to say for a second. Luke pushed the curly-haired boy away lightly, much to the boys confusion.

"What's wrong?" Ashton questioned, not wanting him to be regretting that they had sex. "It's not because.. we had sex, right?"

"No!" Luke shouted, Ashton sighing immensely. "Of course not. I just.." Luke was at a loss for words. He needed to tell him, but the look in his eyes showed that he was well and truly happy at this stage. He knew it would change once they got back home, however he wanted it to last a little longer. And that's why he needed to put off telling him until they got back.

"You just what? I'm your boyfriend.. why can't you tell me?" Ashton pushed and Luke didn't want to say he was growing frustrated but he was.

"Nothing, it's fine. We should get ready and pack." Luke changed the subject, rinsing off his hair one last time and stepped out of the shower, leaving Ashton standing under the warm water alone.

By the time the two boyfriends was on the plane, Ashton knew something was up. Luke has barely said a word all morning and Ashton was beginning to grow paranoid. There was definitely something Luke wasn't telling Ashton and he needed to know what it was. Ashton was angry but more upset that his boyfriend would keep something from him. Aren't they supposed to tell each other everything?

Ashton didn't enjoy being kept in the dark and if Ashton had something to tell Luke, he wouldn't hide it. Ashton trusts Luke enough to tell him everything, apparently that wasn't the case with Luke. And that hurt him. For the whole plane trip back to Sydney, Luke basically slept for the entire time and Ashton was struggling to entertain himself. His mind just kept drifting back to what Luke was keeping from him.

And then a thought came to mind.

Maybe it was about Michael. Ashton's hands began to shake at the thought. His breathing becoming uneven which triggered his hiccups to go out of control. A few people looked at him strangely, Ashton covering his mouth with his hand to try and muffle the sound. It didn't go so well, the only thing he managed to do was wake up Luke.
