Taemoor slowly opened his eyes.
Saif was already there.
The moment Saif saw him awake, Taemoor tried to sit up.
Saif immediately stopped him.
“Zohair?”
“He's fine. He's home. Are you okay?”
Taemoor took a deep breath.
“Fine... What did you tell everyone?”
“I just said something important came up and you had to go out of the city.”
Saif replied honestly.
“She was asking about you,” Saif added.
Taemoor immediately understood who he meant.
“Then?”
Saif gave him some water.
“I told her you were fine wherever you were.”
Taemoor chuckled softly, but pain rushed through his body.
She had always had a sixth sense about him.
“Is everything okay?” Saif asked the doctor.
The doctor nodded.
“Yes. Everything is fine. He just needs rest and healthy food. He's lost a lot of blood.”
The doctor continued explaining his condition, but Taemoor wasn't listening anymore.
All he could remember was Zohair crying.
His tiny hands hitting him.
His frightened voice.
“Appa...”
He had been terrified because of him.
“He's fine. We already cleaned the mess.”
“What mess?” Taemoor asked.
“His clothes were covered in blood, so I changed them. I told Yashal that you had gotten something on them, so she didn't ask too many questions. She did notice his eyes, though. He cried so much.”
Saif sighed.
“Brother, your son cried because he was worried about you. He's already such a smart child. You need to understand him.”
Taemoor listened silently.
Tears filled his eyes.
“His clothes got bloody because of me.”
His voice cracked.
“He got terrified because of me.”
He wiped his tears.
“Those horrible gunshots... those horrible sounds reached his little ears.”
His breathing became uneven.
“I always speak to him so gently. I want him to know love. Only love.”
He looked down.
“He didn't deserve that.”
His voice broke.
“But because of me... he had to hear those sounds.”
“Okay, Bhai. Stop it now. It's fine. He's okay. You're okay, so—”
