Chapter 4 - The Research
Alison's POV
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
Groaning, I punched the darn alarm clock next to me getting myself into a sitting position on my bed. There was no sunlight in the sky and I had yet to go to school. Walking into the bathroom, I let the water slide down my back, making me forget everything around me. Cleaning myself up quickly, I exited the shower quickly and slipped on a pair of blue skinny jeans and a simple beige sweater. I buckled on my brown boots and headed downstairs only to be greeted with an empty kitchen and a note next to my breakfast. Pickin it up, I read it's contents:
Good Morning Alison,
Your father and I had to run off to work, hope you're okay taking the bus. We will be back late. Supper is in the fridge.
Have a nice day.

Crunching up the piece of paper, I threw it in the trash and sat down to have breakfast.

"Where the hell were you yesturday?" Paisley screamed in my ear first thing as I took my place in registration.
"Geez Pais, I was working on my history project, sorry" I replied. She gave me a confused look before she settled with a nod and remained silent as the teacher continued calling our name.
As soon as registration ended, I made my way towards my lessons.
School passed by as a blur, going in and out of classes and before I knew it, I was headed towards the library; it was time for more research on the Castle, more precisley, the legend.
I entered the lonley library, the librarian sitting behind the counter looking down at a book, nobody else present in the library. My footsteps were audible as I made my way towards the counter ignoring the creepy feeling that surrounded the bookshop.
The lady looked up from her book as she saw me approaching, a smile replacing the frown on her face.
"Hi, how may I help you?" she asked once I got to her.
"Hi, can you lead me to the history section please?" she nodded and hopped off her chair, leading me towards what I was looking for.
"Anything in particular you looking for?"
"Yeah, anything about the Warwick Castle" Her smile dropped slightly at the mentioned of my words but she quickly masked it and stretched a fake smile before reaching out and tracing the spine of the books before arriving a certain section of books. She pulled out three books from the section and handed them to me.
"Theese three are the best books with information about the castle."
I smiled and picked up the books walking back to the counter where I payed for them and headed towards the castle, towards Brian.
Opening the now familiar doors of the castle, I made my way towards the kitchen, hoping to find Brian there, only to find it empty.
"Brian!" I yelled. No answer. "Brian!" Once again, no answer. I placed my bag and books back on the table, making my way through the mysterious castle in search of the mighty Prince, yelling his name all the way through the castle. Arriving the door to a certain room, I found it open. Through it, I could see Brian standing in the balcony, looking at the sight ahead of him. I walked up to him, standing next to him admiring the view he was.
"You ok?" I asked after a minute of silence.
"This was my bedroom" his voice was low as he replied. I looked around at the room. A king sized bed was placed in the center of the room. A closet in the far corner filled with what I assumed were old clothes. Two tables in front of the bed and a quill placed on it. Two wooden bediside tables on each side of the bed. In conclusion, the bedroom was royal. I looked back at Brian who was still looking at the view ahead of him.
"You know, my room is still smaller than yours" I said, trying to the lighten the mood up. But he didn't react.
"It was my fault they died. It was my fault that I turned into this... monster. If only I hadn't..." He trailed off.
"Hadn't what?" He paused for a minute, looking at me before looking back at the view.
"If only I hadn't helped capture Grettan's husband. He would still be alive, and I wouldn't be this..."
"You're not a monster. Not if you didn't choose you wanted to be this. That doesn't make you a monster, it makes her a monster. And in order to punish her we must find her. So come on, I got a couple things we could use to look for her" I said, picking up his cold hand and dragging him out of the room. He was as shocked as I was by my sudden move, but he complied anyways.
Arriving the kitchen, I let go of his hand and walked towards the table, pulling out the books and my laptop. I tossed the books at Brian, knowing he wouldn't know how to handle the internet and turned on my Macbook Pro.
His eyes widened as I the light of my computer screen illuminated my face but I just chuckled in return turning the screen towards him.
"This my friend is called a laptop. It's an electronic device that everyone has along with cellphones that is used to accept data, perform operations and give results of these operations. Understood?" He shook his head and I giggled at his innocence. "You'll get used to it, now get started on those books and I'll get started on here" I said pointing at my laptop. He nodded and without another word, seated himself beside me as he started skimming through books.
This was going to be a long night.

Short chapter, hopefully the next one will be longer! Any thoughts on what is going to happen next?
