Chapter 7 - The Story

Alison's POV

It was the sound of the front door opening...

We shot up from our seats and took a defensive position that consisted of Brian standing protectively in front of me, snarling at no one so far whilst I chilled behind him. I peeked from behind and saw as a petit figure squashed through the huge doors. The doors closed and she walked further into the castle until she emerged into the light. Lana. Just as I had expected. I pushed Brian gently to the side to get a better view. As her eyes found mine, they widened in shock. However when she looked at Brian, that's when she lost it.

"So it's true then?" she whispered, her eyes still focused on Brian. "She did this to you?" I could see small tears for in the corner of her eyes. What I didn't understand was, why?

"She did" Brian replied, coldly. I could see his inner beast battle him, wanting to be let free and simply suck the blood out of Lana, but he managed to control himself well. Lana looked down, unable to face us.

"I'm so sorry. I never believed she could do this. I'm so sorry" she apologized.

"Why are you apologizing? Aren't you supposed to be on your mother's side?" I blurted, curious. She lifted her head and shook it, wiping the remaining tears off her eyes.

"No. Most people think so, but I assure you I'm not."

"Why should we believe you? You could be working for her right now" Brian replied from behind, shooting daggers at her.

"Because I hate my mother" she stated simply. I had a feeling there was a long story behind this, so I walked back to the table and took a seat, signalling her to take one too, and she complied. I felt Brian sit behind me, watching the witch as she spoke. "Until the age of fifteen, we all thought that my mother loved us. She was perfect and cared for us very much. That was until our father died. After his death was the time when we most needed her, but she just left. She came back home late one night, packed her bags and left. I tried to stop her but she just told me that she hated us and only tolerated us because of our father." She paused, wiping a few tears that had fallen from her eyes. "We trusted her. She was our mother, but she left us. I would have blamed the whole thing on Prince Wilson for causing my father's death, but what happened was for the best. We learnt our lesson and the truth about our mother, so I was grateful. And since I was the oldest one out of all my siblings, I had to bring them up by myself. Sooner or later everyone found their partners and we all separated, creating families of our own."

I looked at her eyes and saw nothing but the truth. I knew she wasn't lying, and I knew she could help.

"Did you not know what your mother had done to Brian?"

"It had been rumored that the day she left she had placed a curse on him, but I refused to believe it... until now." Her eyes darted back to Brian.

"Is there anyway you could break the curse" I asked, desperacy in my eyes. She shot me a sad smile and I instantly knew the answer.

"I'm afraid the curse is dark magic, something that I do not practice. However I can help. I believe that the curse implies that Prince Wilson is not allowed to leave the castle?" She questioned. I nodded my head. "I think I can help with that" My eyes shone with happiness as she said so.

"Really?"

"Yes, I have a spell that can free him from that. Other than that, I could help you look for a cure, or my mother"

"That's great, thank you Lana"

"Of course. Shall we get the spell started then?" I looked back at Brian, but he looked doubtful.

"Excuse me for a minute please" I replied, grabbing Brian's arm and dragging him out of the kitchen. I stopped in the grand living room and faced him. "What's wrong?"

"I don't trust her" I threw my head back and whined.

"Ok, seriousely Brian she is the only help we have so far, and I trust her so unless you've got a better idea or want to be stuck in this castle forever, I suggest you take the risk and go with it. I mean, you're already a vampire, what could possibly be worse than that?" He looked at me briefly before disconnecting his eyes to wander around the room. "Brian, do you trust me?" I asked him, regaining his attention.

"Of course"

"Then trust me on this okay?" He waited for a minute before he nodded and started walking back towards the kitchen, where Lana was patiently seated on the chair.

"Well, lets get this over with" I announced. She jumped off the chair and walked towards Brian slowly.

"Ready?" she asked him.

"As I'll ever be" he replied, under his breath.

Lana lifted her hands in the air and started speaking a language that none of us understood. A few minutes later, sand appeared out of nowhere and started swirling around Brian as he looked puzzled as ever. It looked just like a movie. She moved her hands in circles, moving it around Brian again and again.

After what seemed like ages, she finally stopped speaking and opened her eyes. The sand had dissapeared and everything seemed in shape. It was done.

"Great, it's do-" I didn't even get to finish my words before a bright yellow light penetrated my eyes, blinding me from what was in front of me.

And then, everything dissapeared.
