Chapter 5 - The Discovery
Brian's POV
It had been three hours since the search towards the curse began. I had no idea why such a beautiful girl like Alison was helping a cursed monster like me. I admired everything about her, the way she talked, walked and was willing to help me out in the blink of an eye even after I drank from her.
I continued running through the book hoping to find something that would help whilst Alison's eye remained on the illuminated device on the table. Suddenly, her head snapped up andd brought me out of my thoughts.
"I found something!" She exclaimed "Grettan has a daughter, her name is Lana Smith. She is still alive and guess where she lives?"
"London?" I guessed.
"Yes!" she agreed, clapping her hands in the air. A smile crept up to my face at the sight of her lovley smile.
"Not to burst your bubble of joy, but how exactly is this suppose to help? I don't think she will happily reveal her mother's location to us."
"Not to you, but why not me? And besides, what if she turns out to be better than her mother and maybe she might know a way to lift the curse. It's worth a try." She commented. I nodded, agreeing with her. Maybe this could all work out afterall. Maybe I could be a free man again. Maybe I could discover what the new world had to offer to me. Maybe...
Before I knew it, the sound of her fingers flicking in front of my face dragged me back to reality.
"Hello, you there?" she asked
"Yes, I'm here. So what is the plan?"
"For now, I'm going home, it's getting late and I have to return the books to the library. However, tomorrow I shall come back and we shall figure out a plan" She stated, elevating from her seat and packing her stuff up. "Oh, and I almost forgot" she starte "I got you this" She pulled out a small, odd looking device from her pocket and handed it to me. On it, there was some sort of black whole and the words panasonic branded in white at the top.
"What is this?" she chuckled and took the item from my hands.
"This, is a phone. It's a really old but it will do for you. Basically, whenever you want to contact me or talk to me you open it up and click on this button twice." She instructed, pointing at a small, green icon once she opened the phone. I nodded, understanding how to use it. "Here" she said, handing me it. I took it and thanked her before placing it on the table behind me. She then packed up the rest of her things and started to walk away; at the end of the door, she turned back and shot me a smile.
"See ya tomorrow Prince Wilson" I chuckled at the name. No one had called me that in a long time, and I was okay with being called Brian. I realized just how formal my title sounded.
"Goodbye Alison" I responded as I watched her dissapear out the door.
She was definitley doing something to me, and I certainly didn't mind it.
Alison's POV
As I entered through the doors of the library, my mind was glued to the new information I had discovered today. My mind was thinking of sevral different plans I could perform but I agreed with none. How I was supposed to track a powerful witch's daughter down, I had no idea and a plan was yet to be discovered. I was so in my thoughts I didn't realise I had bumped into someone, causing my books to fall on the ground.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry" a petite female voice erupted from above me. A hand reached down to help me with my books. When we both rose I saw her properly and her face seemed familiar. She was blonde and had bright blue eyes. She handed me my books and I thanked her; thats when it hit me.
"Laura, right?"
"Yeah, Laura Smith. You're Alison Stones, from my class?" I nodded and smiled at her. Laura was a very silent girl. Like me, she had one real friend in our class and kept mostly to herself. She was once my lab partner in biology, a pretty nice girl if you ask me.
"So what brings you here?" I asked casually, trying to make conversation.
"Oh, I was visitng my mother. She works here"
"Oh thats cool" We chatted for about another five minutes about simple things before she headed out and I walked towards the counter where the same librarian from before greeted me.
"Back already?" she questioned when she saw me.
"Yeah, I just wanted to return these. I replied placing the books on the table.
"Did you find anything?"
"Not really" I answere honestly.
"That's a shame."I nodded and was about to turn back to head out before my gaze focused on the name tag of the librarian. What I saw, scared and excited me at the same time, though I was utterly petrified. My eyes popped out of their sockets as I forcefully took my focus off her and walked out through the doors of the library still in shock. The person I was looking for was right in front of me the whole time, and I hadn't noticed.
Lana Smith.
