XV. Kiss Me

Insane. Alden’s insane and he has the craziest of ideas ever invented. Brianna was disappointed the first time she’d trusted his idea and she swears she’ll never gave in again. But his latest persuasion is bugging her conscience, making her agree in the end.

As he had said, they needed a solution—ASAP. Even if it means making her and Christian as bait to win Dahlia’s attention and at last convince her to become a spy. Sounds easy but the idea is absurd and scary as hell and back!

Her friendship with him is a work in progress and Alden is rushing things for her. In the end, he might ruin everything she had built to break their gap. It scares her.  Of course, Alden already knew that she’s crushing on Christian. Damn with that mind reading ability!

It took her time to figure that out and she had a hard time accepting that she actually likes Christian. She has a crush on the hottest apprentice in their academy. It’s ridiculous.  But it only took Alden seconds to read the thoughts deeply tucked in her mind. Now, she’s letting him toyed with her feelings.

Christian who might walk carelessly in the hallway of their academy, gaining frequent head turns from hopeful girls with heart popped out from their eyes. She doesn’t want to be one of them. But now that they’ll be acting as couples, Brianna fears that some of these girls would pull her hair or worst—skin her alive. The thought of it made her shiver.

She sighs. Afterall, that’s their goal—to gain attention. Dahlia’s attention. But since they can’t directly tell her, they needed the help of the word of mouth.

“I guess you should wear this one, I like this.” Alden suggested. He’s standing from the hallway of her walk in closet, choosing from the dresses he had picked.

“Does it still matter?” she’s sitting on her bed, crossing her legs.

She had just waked up and her hair might be looking like a bird’s nest. Alden’s breaking in her room. AGAIN. It doesn’t surprise her now because he’s already making this a habit.

“Of course, it does. This is the first day that you and Christian will walk in the school as couples. You must make an impression.” He said while wiggling his brows.

“The idea of me and Christian as a couple is enough to make an impression. I don’t need to change anything about me, like the way I dress up.”

“Aren’t you excited about this? About you and Christian in a relationship? Don’t let him look at other girls but you.”

“Alden, we’re just pretending.” She had finally gotten to her and walk towards the closet. She chose from among the hanged dresses and picks the one with the lightest shade of green. She muse, green is Alden’s eye color. She tossed it on the bed and proceeded to the bathroom. She opened the door but before closing it, she turned to him. “If you don’t mind, I’ll have my bath. See you in a while.”

Alden mouthed an ‘Okay’.

She closed the door and started the shower. She badly needed this to calm her nerves because if not, she would probably mess things up. How did Christian manage this act? she thought. Her mind is running active since last night and she can’t control a trembling hand. Her hands. Will Christian hold these hands? The picture of them in school grounds with hands linked together brought shivers on her stomach like butterfly wings.

Somehow, she’s giddy about the thought. Like a stupid school girl crush. Even under a cold shower, Brianna felt her cheeks burn. She sighs and decided to finish her bath quickly.

Wrapping herself in a robe, she stepped out from the bathroom. She was dying her hair with a towel while walking towards her bed where she left the dress. Because her hair is covering her eyes, her hands blindly search for it. When she had found the fabric, she clasps her hand on the hanger and raised the dress for a close, final inspection.
