Following the Emperor’s lead, Brianna and the royal Guardians entered the palace’s protective shield. It is dark but the protective charms that they put on the place glows brightly.

She tightens her grip on the horse’s rein and gains speed. Passing through the protective line feels like you are being pulled by a time machine. Brianna, though living in here, has to get use to this thing. The protective shield serves as the wall between the hybrids and the Guardians living on the palace. It is like a high security device that lets them live peacefully without being disturbed by unexpected visitors.

The hybrids could not touch the protection because the power is just too much for them.

When they have entered, they were welcomed by the palace’s servants. She and the Emperor step down from their horses. Knowing the Emperor, Brianna entered the pavilion first and walks through the hallway leading to the ball room. She knew that Emperor Philip is going to have a word with his royal Guardians before departing so she went ahead.

She is now approaching the huge ballroom and she could see the light coming from grand chandeliers. When she first stepped inside the room, her eyes immediately landed on Dahlia. She crouches on the stairs and a servant girl is standing near her. Uncle Trevor on the other hand is standing on a far end corner with eyes looking straight on the door which technically she is currently standing.

Remembering the scenario, she ran the distance between her and Dahlia. Dahlia looked up when she stop in front of her. Her eyes were bloodshot from crying. They sat and they hugged each other like they haven’t seen each other for ages.

“Thank goodness, you’re okay.” Dahlia muttered while hiccupping.

“How are you? How did you find your way home?” she asked, feeling a bit guilty for letting her bestfriend stay out late tonight. She put an arm around her shoulders.

“When we separated, I shapeshift. I was so afraid so I did my best to find my way home to ask for help.” Dahlia hiccup and blew her nose. “I’m sorry I left you.” she apologizes. Eyes were so tender. Dahlia also adjusted her position so she sits facing her.

“Dahlia how did you…” she looked around. She knows that they are almost alone in this ball room. Uncle Trevor is standing on a far end corner so he won’t probably hear what she is supposed to ask. But to be sure, Brianna pressed her head to Dahlia’s and continue “…know that he is a vampire?” she whispers.

Dahlia stopped for a moment. She lifts her head so their eyes were leveled and meet each other’s gaze. She glimpse at Uncle Trevor before facing her again and lowered her gaze the next.

“I just…feel it.” she silently answered.

Not so convinced, she put a hand on her bestfriend’s arms. Curiosity is killing her and she can’t wait until tomorrow for answers.

“Brianna!”

They both looked up at the Emperor’s voice. She stood up. Not longer than five seconds, Dahlia stood as well from behind her. Both of them did a curtsy.
