XVI. Memories

“Tell me, please, that she bought it.” Alden pleads.

 “Out. “

“What? It’s just a yes or a no. ‘Out’ is not an option.”

“Out of my room.”

“Wait.” Alden held up a finger. He’s leaning on the wall of her room while she’s staring blankly at her ceiling. She had already taken a bath but why in hell is her lips still throbbing? “You’re hiding something from me,” he eyed her.

“Stop pretending Alden. I know that you’re behind it.” she accused. Pushing herself up to sit and faces him.

“Whoa. Behind what?” he was now intrigued and slowly move towards her. “Tell me all about it and give a chance to defend myself.”

She bit her lip, unsure if Alden is still pretending. That power is very strong and her heart ached for the result of it. If he didn’t take his part in compelling Christian, how was she able to compel him to kiss her? No, she can’t do it alone. Alden must have helped her.

“You compel him,” she cried.

Alden laughs. “What did you do Brianna?”

“Nothing. Get out of my room. Now.” She pushed him away.

“Wait.” He’s blocking her arms and holds her still. “What happened? You compelled him to do what?” his eyes are piercing her. “Now, there’s a good lass. Tell me all about it, darling.” He lullabied not bothering to blink.

Is he trying to compel her? Well, it’s not working. She made a random check on her brain and found that it’s normal. But when she scan Alden’s mind, she was disappointed when she found that he’s sincere in asking. She bowed her head—really low—and sighs.

“I made him kiss me,” she confesses.

“Really? How was it like? Did he kiss you back—” he stopped after seeing her, frustrated. “Err…I mean, that’s fine.”

“Oh, common! Don’t tease me about it. I’m really embarrassed.”

“Why would you? You did the right thing. I’m so proud of you.” Alden pats her head like a master to his dog.

“Didn’t you hear me? I made him kiss me.” She insists, trying to find a fault on what she had done.

“So what? He’s your boyfriend.” He shrugs.

“We’re just pretending. Now, I made him do something out of his will,” she cried.

Alden grabs her close to him and cradled. “You’re acting like a cry baby.” Brianna might feel guilty making Christian kiss her but it was done without force. He was sure of it. It was probably with his consent because she succeeded in making an eye contact. She’ll need his cooperation to do that because Christian’s still few inches taller than her. He mused.

“He might not talk to me tomorrow.” She said, still sobbing.

“Tomorrow will pass as if nothing had happen. Trust me.” He assured her rubbing her back for comfort.

Someone knocks at her door and Alden immediately popped out of her room. Because her face was leaning on his chest, it falls on the pillow when he disappeared. She’s still crying and too tired to open her door. But it doesn’t need her because it simply opened on its own and swallowed Dahlia in. She caught her buried deep in her pillow, shoulder’s shaking.

Worried, she rushed towards her. “What’s wrong, Bri?” she helped her sit upright and when she saw her face streaked with tears, she hugged her tight. “Who made you cry huh? Tell me.” The bestfriend instinct kicked in.
