He is an apprentice, too.

They are in the same year level.

And they are taking almost the same subjects.

Brianna tried to remember these things. It still puzzled her because she had not notice this apprentice named Christian in their classes. Well, she had seen it. He was seated on the farthest back of their room and looks like he has his own world. Dahlia said that he doesn’t usually mingle with others. ‘Like her’, Dahlia keeps on repeating.

But there’s a difference. She doesn’t mingle but she is noticed. Always. By their professors. By other apprentices like Abigail.

“Brianna.” Dahlia’s voice made her looked up. They are now walking home. The sun’s rays that escape from the leaves of tall trees blinded her. In a few minutes, the sun would set. She was fascinated by this beautiful view.

Dahlia, smiling, holds her assignment close to her chest. They now have their schedules for next week. Their professors are giving them the rest of this week to read and study the modules they had provided. They will be having a day of orientation before they will be sent to the field.

She had not opened her clip board yet. It’s either she’s not excited or it does not interest her at all.

Because she’s taller than Dahlia, she looked at her and study her amused face.

It’s as if nothing had happened early that morning. Their librarian literally dragged them out from the library after she tried to stop Dahlia from arguing with Martin—a fellow apprentice.

From Mistress Rosmerta’s point of view, they were the ones who started the scene. Though she hasn’t asked Dahlia yet what had really lead to that argument. It still puzzled her on what could have upset Dahlia making her accused Martin of infidelity.

‘God! It’s not even official that they’re together!’ she thought. She was surprised upon hearing this but she immediately compose herself after seeing Abigail near the scene. Maybe it has something to do with her. What else!

It was also the first time that she was thrown out from the library and it was pretty embarrassing.

 “What?” she asked.

“I really regret stopping you from putting up a fight with Abigail early this morning.” Dahlia said pouting.

“And why, if may I ask?”

“She’s a total bitch and a relationship-wrecker!” Dahlia accused. Her face turns red from anger.

‘A relationship-wrecker?’ Hmm. She let it slipped for a while.

“Let me guess. It has something to do with Martin and the scene in the library this morning, right?”

“Yes.”

“Explain.”

“Alight but can we stay out for a while? I don’t want Uncle Trevor to worry.” Dahlia suggests.

Brianna’s eyes lit up at once. She likes the idea, of course. With that, she doesn’t have to sneak out tonight.

“I like that. Let’s go there and watch the sunset first.” She suggested.

They hike on the higher part of the forest. Brianna is more familiar in this place because next to her quarter, this forest is the second from her most favorite places. It’s peaceful and she feels close to nature. The royal couple never prohibits her to explore, well, aside from this one place—the Forbidden Valley. She never bothers because no one from her age has gone to this place anyway.
