"Tori? Wake up." My eyes snapped open and locked onto my brothers beautiful blue eyes. They were filled with worry and sadness, why would he be sad?
"What's wrong Ellie?" The naive 4 year old me asked. There were unshed tears in his eyes. A traitorous tear fell and I quickly reached up to wipe it away.
"Ellie?" He sniffed and wiped his eyes quickly. "C-can I s-sleep with you tonight?" I nodded my head and shifted over for him to lie down. He immediately crawled in under the covers and faced me. He wrapped his arms protectively around my tiny waist and pulled me closer to him.
I layed my head against his chest and listened to the calming sound of his heart beat. "Ellie please tell me what's wrong?" I asked while looking up at him.
He looked down at me and gave me a sad smile. "Nothings wrong Sis. Can I ask you something?" he asked, seeming quite nervous.
"You can tell me anything Ellie, I'll be here to protect you, just like how you protect me from the monsters." I smiled at him while more tears came down on his 11 year old face. I started to panic because my big brother never shed tears. Not even when his goldfish died.
I loved Mr.Gubbles, though I should never feed fish ever again. I didn't know dumping the whole bottle in would cause him to have a big tummy ache that made him go to fish heaven.
"Sis, if-if I'm never here anymore promise me you'll always be brave and do anything and everything, for mom and dad? Also promise me that if I am gone that you'll still love me?" I was very confused at his words but what 4 year old wouldn't. So I simply nodded and kissed his cheek, which led to him kissing mine.
It went back and forth, back and forth. "Ah my babies are so adorable!" We heard our mothers voice coming from behind us. We turned around to find her and dad in their pyjamas smiling at us.
"Come on Sweetheart lets leave them be." said my dad while he led my mom out the room.
I turned to Ellijah again and looked straight into his eyes.
"I promise Ellie I'll take care of mom and dad and I promise that I will always love you." I said with a strong voice.
"No matter what?" He asked.
"No matter what."
My eyes quickly snapped open to realise that I had fell asleep in Darron's car when he picked me up. I found myself in Darron's guest room. My room for now. I sat up and looked around me the walls were a very depressing and boring white.
The room looked the same as Darron's but still had a few difference's. I got up off of the queen sized bed and made my way over to my luggage.
I didn't want to ask Jen if I could stay with them because her house is already so full. She already shares her small room with her younger sister.
I started to unpack and placed my clothes into the cupboard. Once my clothing was done I started to unpack my belongings. I came across a photo of me and my mom at my 6th birthday party.
We didn't know someone was taking a picture but we were both looking at each other smiling while I was in her arms. That birthday was one of the best that I have ever had. My whole and I mean WHOLE family came to celebrate.
I hadn't noticed the tears coming down until it fell onto the frame. Just the fact knowing my mother looks at me with disgust, is the worst pain in my whole life.
I can't say she was wrong because she wasn't, everything she said was the truth.
"It's okay Tori." Darron whispered into my ear while bringing me close to his chest. I grabbed a fistful of his shirt and just cried. Darron has seen me at my worst before so I'm not ashamed he's seeing me like this.
