Being in a relationship, one you really wanted to be in, is difficult. You spend a long time questioning whether it's all lies, or if there is any point to it. Then, you believe them, all too quickly and you fall in love. Falling in love is scary, because that person that you love, now has all control over you. It's their choice whether they break you, or whether they hold on tight.
And then, telling someone you love them, now that is terrifying.

Brysen held my hand as we walked through the market, stopping at stores here and there to look at everything. I assumed from the way he was loosely holding my hand that he was in deep though, his face only proving my assumption. I wanted to kiss the wordy and stress off his face, but I couldn't. He didn't need to be disturbed.
It had been almost a week since we become somewhat official, and things were breezey, as they are supposed to be. We had spent the past two nights in separate motel rooms, neither one of us saying anything about it, and the three previous nights we slept in the car, separate and in our respective spots.
I didn't mind, I only wanted us to he comfortable and not going too fast. Brysen however seemed happy when Jocelyn announced early in the morning that it was another car night. He gripped onto my hand under the table and gave it a soft squeeze, of which I returned one back.
The market was surprisingly busy, and the stalls were selling decent things at decent prices. I didn't buy anything, and I'm sure Brysen didn't either, but I had lost him while I was busy looking at a printer that reminded me of my dad.
"Come on, I just got a text from Dimitri." Brysen spoke up, erasing the concern and worry off his face. He pocketed his phone and didn't explain any further of what the text said. I nodded my head and leaned into his side, almost forcing him to drop my hand and wrap around my waist, pulling me even closer to his warm body.
Brysen led the two of us out of the market and past the mass of cars. He stopped at a pathway that led through the tree's, a small grin covered his mouth. Walking further down it sand started appearing and I realised quickly that we were headed for a beach.
The beach looked somewhat different to ones I had seen before. There were several people already in the water and growing groups on the sand. I couldn't pinpoint what was different about the beach, it looked almost the same but something (I had no idea what) was different.
"This is a nice beach." I commented as Brysen dropped his arm from around my waist, instead he took my hand.
"Dimitri said he's been here before." Brysen said as he looked down at his phone, texting with the one hand.

We spent a few hours on the beach, only Jocelyn going in the water this time. We played in the sand, joined a families beach cricket game and even scored ourselves some drinks from the kind family. After messing around for a fair share of time Dimitri announced it was time to get a move on, and so we left.
I missed the beach the moment the sand disappeared from under my feet, and even sitting in the car I wanted to be back there, being young and free.
Free. That's what was different about the beach, it had a freedom to it. There were no rules, no disruptions and it was open, yet enclosed by the surrounding forestry. The beach was free, and I liked it.
I took the time to call my parents, knowing all too well they wouldn't be happy about me not calling earlier, but they were still glad to hear my voice. I wanted to tell them about Brysen and how great he was, but I refrained, remembering the lie we had told. They didn't know he was coming, and I wasn't planning on them finding out.
