Reflection

Shattered upon the floor
Still aglow as if adorned

In I look
Though afraid

I turn
And turn
Then look away

Reflected is
Another girl

One touch
I do attempt

Mesmerized
I become
By the color red

As it drips
From my fingertips

One drop
Splatters on the pane

I look to her
She is unphased
Unaware of any change

She lifts her finger
Just as I

Together we move
And synchronize

Outstretched
Is my hand
Awaiting hers

She reaches forth
But hesitates

Her back twisting
As she's turning away

I tap the glass
Telling her
"Look this way"

Her image vanishing
Until she is no more

Darkness follows
After the shutting of a door

Here I stay
Denied always
Where I cannot go

A mere reflection
Of a girl

Confound in this
Broken space

Never knowing
Which of us
Is the reflection?
