Your name rolls from their tongue with ease,
but I didn't know what to say about you.
They ask me how you are and deep down I wish I knew.
I hope you're well and happy,
making the most of what God has blessed you with.
Since over time it has become clear that tragic parting was indeed a gift.
The heartache endured for year after year
became almost impossible to continue to bare
people don't know about our story the way that we do
the amount of times we tried to make it work,
I tried too often to reconnect with you
Fighting there's battles for you on my own
But at the end you were the one who hit my heart with the biggest stone
Ill think of the good times we shared,
So when they say you name I will smile
It may only have been for a while but at that moment in time
your heart had chosen mine.
