The ocean scent brings back lingering memories,
Ones which I thought where buried down years ago
Theres something awfully familiar about the way the waves hug the shore,
Promising their return no matter what the cost.
A return I had no luxury to experience
for with us it never occurred
You left me drifting in daydreams of us
Fighting against all the doubts which you fed
There's something awfully familiar the way the wave hugs the shore
Almost as though it's their destiny,
These devoted waves were pulling me further into the blue
My will and strength was not enough
For we clearly weren't meant to be
Left with empty promises and salted wounds
Only with memories and what could of been
