Part 3: Lost in Thought

/how could I let this happen? I have no one to blame but myself... But Laurence knows that I... That I... How I fell about Aphmau. I shouldn't have waited... I shouldn't have let this happen, I shouldn't have something life changing have to happen before I tell her how I feel... It's too late it's too late it's too late! Oh man... Laurence deserves to be with Aphmau... I don't deserve someone as amazing as her I-/

Garroth's thoughts were cut off by the swift raise of a blade to his neck.

"Hello, brother."

-Aphmau's POV-

Aphmau heard her front door open and shut, assuming it was just Zoey, she remained where she was, seated in her room. /this shouldn't bother me, why does this bother me? Garroth will be fine, I can still see him sometimes... But oh I'm going to miss him so much... I'm going to miss seeing him in the village and miss talking to him about whatever's on my mind without hesitation... It's going to be hard losing him- wha- why am I thinking like this? Garroth's my guard, and my friend. Period... Right?/

For hours Aphmau laid down just trying to convince herself she was only thinking about this because Garroth was leaving, but she continued to second guess herself. She wouldn't even come out of her room after a restless night- 2 more days until Garroth left. Aphmau knew these thoughts were eating at her sanity, but she couldn't help herself. After so many hours of contemplating her feelings, she decided to write. She opened her journal and wrote a poem. It read;

"Knight in Shining Armor:

He protected me

I took advantage

Of that time we spent

Not knowing

I would lose him

My best friend

I didn't expect for him to leave

I didn't expect for it to end

And I most certainly didn't expect

To fall in love with my best friend"

She then read her owns words as if they were that of a strangers. How was this happening? Aphmau's heart pounded so hard she was sure that even in scaleswind they could hear it. She decided then and there that she was to confront Garroth about this. If he denied her, so be it, but she knew she couldn't live not knowing.
