I giggled and said, "That was one hell of a pick-up line." He smiled and stood up, reaching out a hand to pull me up. As soon as he did, I lost my balance. I started to fall, when he caught me, holding my waist. I chuckled, my face going red. "Haha, thanks... I guess my body wasn't too fond of flying through the air and landing hard on the ground..."
Mrs.Van Zandt walked over and smiled. "Ruby, this is Lucas. He is the last extremely powerful vampire that I had seen, much like your friend Maddie and me."
Lucas laughed, his arms still around my waist, then said, looking at me, "Already can't stop talking about me?" His deep purple eyes looking right into mine. They sparkled with a mischievous humor. It almost seemed as if I could get lost in the dark swirls of his eyes.
I smiled, then noticed that our faces were moving closer together. My smile slowly disappeared and our faces seemed to act like the north and south poles of a magnet.
Our faces were nearly half an inch away from each other, when Maddie jumped up and yelled, "Hey!" Lucas looked at her like she was crazy and loosened his grip as she said that.
I also kinda jumped a lil'. Just a lil'...
Okay, so it was a foot or two in the air...
His arms were still loose, I learned the hard way...
I was expecting to land back in his arms, but I fell right through his (very well muscled, I might add) arms, my butt hitting the ground.
"I haven't met you yet! I figured that, since we're going to be living for quite a while, we ought to know each other! Especially if you're her soul mate." Maddie said, looking down, winking and smiling at me. "I'm Maddie."
Lucas looked down at me, smiled with curiosity, then looked back to Maddie. "I'm Lucas. Did I catch that you were like Mrs.V.Z. and me?" She nodded, smiling. "It's a hard job. I hope you're up for it!" He said, a grin on his face. Maddie's face went confused and, before she could say anything else, Lucas hopped around Maddie and faced me. "Well, let's get going!"
"Where are we going?" I asked. He offered me a hand. I took it as he pulled me up off the ground, without a struggle.
He's kind of causing my first reaction of him to remind me of an old show that I used to watch when I was fifteen. It was featured on the British Broadcasting Channel...
"Well, you can't just stand in the courtyard the whole time you're here! You've got to sleep, sometime!" He said, laughing. When he smiled, it made me want to smile. It was like it was contagious.
Jaime popped in. "Sleep? You mean you guys sleep?"
Russell looked at Jaime, smiling. "Of course we sleep! We're technically just like the human race, but with more advantages. There are some, disadvantages, but most of the time the good over weighs the bad."
"But that's a different story for a different time." Mrs.Van Zandt said, a warning look in her eyes.
Henry smiled, clapped, then said, "Yes, so the room arrangements. I suppose that Alexus will be sleeping with me?"
"Absolutely not! You know the rules, Mr.Mackintosh! Women sleep in the women dormitories, and men sleep in the men dormitories, all the way across the building. I can feel you trying to change my mind, but I guarantee you, much like all of the other times, it will not work! Now go on, get. I have to show them to their room." She looked towards Russell. "And don't you think about using your advantage. You'll have detention for weeks."
He smiled at her, then said, "I make no promises and I tell no lies."
She sighed as we started to walk towards the building.
