I waved the flashlight around, trying to find a way forward. "Guys, I can see a turn ahead, so I'm going to go and check it out."
"Hey, wait! I'm coming back down the ladder!" Maddie yelled. She jumped down with one of our old small color guard poles. I stared at her weirdly. "What? We don't know what's down here! At least we have something!"
"Well, yeah, but why the color guard pole? Why not something else, like the lamp, or something?" I asked.
"Why'd you even bring it?" Alexus asked. Alexus was the only one not in color guard.
"Well, I figured I'd get bored..." Maddie muttered.
I chuckled and started to walk down the tunnel. As I took a left, I saw a long part of tunnel that my flashlight couldn't light up.
I started to walk down it as Jaime said, "What if we get lost? What will we do, then?"
"I don't know! I guess we'll just have to find out!" I said, smiling.
After about five minutes, the tunnel made a right to reveal a tunnel that looked as long as the one we just walked through.
I sighed. This was going to be a long time...
...
"Ruby, there's a two way, up there..." Alexus muttered. Maddie had gotten bored and started to look through Instagram on her phone. Jaime, however, was looking worried.
I laughed. "James! Chill out! We're at a Vampire school! What's the worst that could happen?" Wait a minute... "Don't answer that... Especially since I'm still human..." I made a face, and Maddie looked over and started cracking up.
"YOUR FACE! HAHAHAHA!!! YOU SHOULD'VE SEEN YOUR FACE!!! WHAT WAS THAT?!" I rolled my eyes and chuckled. I stopped at the two way, then looked back.
"So, uh, left or right, then." I said.
"Or split up." Alexus muttered.
"NOPE! THEN THERE'S ONLY ONE GOOD THING, EACH! EITHER I GO WITH THE GIRL WITH LIGHT, BUT NO DEFENSES, OR I GO WITH THE GIRL WITH DEFENSES, BUT NO LIGHT!!! AIN'T NO WAY." Jaime practically yelled.
"So, we go left, then." I smiled.
As we turned left, there was another turn to the right about fifty feet in front of us. I stopped to retie my shoes and shortly afterwards, I heard Maddie scream.
"THERE'S SOMETHING ON ME! IT JUST CRAWLED UP MY LEG!!!" I shined my flashlight next to me, at Maddie, and saw a huge rat crawling up her back. I hopped up and swatted it off. I shined my light behind all of us and saw a huge horde of rats racing towards us. I screamed and ran away from the horde, shining the light in front of us so we wouldn't trip on anything and get ambushed. We turned the corner and straight into a huge cave. We kept running forwards and stopped in the middle of it. It was completely circular. I shined my light around, looking for a way to escape the rats.
"Ruby, they're getting closer..." Jaime said in a worried tone.
Right as they were fifteen feet away, I saw the shine of metal, as a ladder revealed itself. "There!" I screamed, starting to run towards it. I jumped on it and tried to climb it as fast as possible.
Thank god, I decided to wear my skinny jeans, instead of my skirt...
I got to the top of the ladder and pushed the doors open and climbed out. I helped Jaime, Maddie, then Alexus up, then slammed the doors shut, blocking the rats off. I stood up and looked around. "So, uh, where are we?"
I heard a door open, then close, somewhere behind us. I heard a muffled, "Um, I know where all the racket came from, and you might wanna check it out."
