Do you ever get that panic in the pit of your stomach when you get lost in the the grocery store or something?
Like when your Mom tells you to go get the milk and 2 min later you come back and she's nowhere to be found?
Well that's the feeling I was getting right now, except minus my Mom and the grocery store.
I had been walking through my town mall, minding my own business when I noticed this guy following me. Normally I would have dismissed the thought of someone observing me, cause who isn't curious about hearing aids?
It was the fact that the guy, whoever he was, kept eyeing me up and down. Like a dog or something.
I bet you're wondering if he could just be a douche teenager, which believe me would have been way tolerable than this dude. Its just that, I'm not really one the guys notice at first.
Being almost completely deaf could freak people out, I should know by now. But other than that, I, Kaitlyn Wells, didn't turn people's heads. Now I'm sure I'm sounding like those girls who pretend they don't believe they're pretty. Calling out for reassurance.
Although you should know, I'm not.
In my opinion my looks are average. I don't know, maybe puberty hasn't really kicked in for me yet.
I was sixteen, almost 5'9 and wishing she had a small frame like those Victoria Secret models. That's common, right?
The only thing I had going for me were my curves, if you could call them that. Other than that, my pale complexion with tints of pink did not constitute auburn hair.
It called for a color in between blond and the color of a turkey. Cooked not frozen. Luckily it matched my electric blue irises.
Maybe that was why the guy was looking at me. But at this moment, it was too late. I'd already started speed walking to the parking lot.
Geez, at times like these I wondered why I had to be deaf. It was really inconvenient, especially when I thought about it.
Always watching subtitles, the only music I listen to are the songs that blast so much I can feel the vibrations consistently.
On the other hand though, I'd been deaf my whole life and was used to it. It's not like I sit around feeling sorry for myself, it was nice not have to hear people babble on an on about themselves.
Hearing would just round out my senses so I could hear if someone came up behind me. Or tried to kidnap me. But who am I to complain?
I had already gotten to the parking space where my sweet Ford Explorer was. Too bad my stalker came around it and attacked me.
Just my luck.
